*First Tee Overview* For more than 25 years, First Tee has been using the platform of golf to provide innovative and experiential learning opportunities for young people. Character education and long-term life skills are at the heart of our programs, which are delivered by coaches who have been trained in positive youth development. The First Tee Life Skills Experience is the unique component that sets First Tee apart from many other successful junior golf programs and youth development programs. By engaging young people in a combination of life skills, leadership, and golf activities, they are also exposed to positive traits that will help them achieve success in life. In the process, participants become valuable assets to their community. First Tee offers character education programs at golf courses, elementary schools, and youth centers in 150 chapters in all 50 states and internationally. *Chapter Overview* First Tee – Inland Empire was established in 2015 and services youth ages 5-17 at over 80 program locations, including golf courses, community centers and schools. We are more than a sports program. We shape the lives of young people throughout communities in the Inland Empire providing character building and life skills lessons while promoting healthy habits through the game of golf. *Reporting Structure* The Golf Coach reports to the Program Director. *Job Summary* The Youth Golf Coach works specifically at our green-grass program locations, including golf courses, parks and/or after-school locations. This coach is responsible for creating a safe and welcoming environment where youth can learn and play golf. First Tee coaches serve as not only golf coaches, but also role models and mentors for kids in the program. All learning follows a model and our model of learning is driven by the actions of our Coaches who assist our staff in a variety of ways regarding programming. The assistance is delivered in various ways, though primarily through the hands-on delivery of golf and life skills instruction and participant mentoring. Orientations and ongoing Coach Trainings are held throughout the year to familiarize Coaches with the First Tee coaching methodology and curriculum. *Roles and Responsibilities* * Must be able to coach between 2 - 10 hours per week. Classes are primarily held between the hours of 3:30pm-5:30pm during the week and in the mornings/early afternoon on weekends (holiday/summer program times may vary) * Maintain a professional attitude towards co-workers, site coordinators and participants * Set up and break down program equipment and supplies * Commence and end scheduled lessons on time * Maintain consistent and regular attendance * Positively convey the Chapter’s brand image to the public * Make the game *FUN *for youth participants * Maintain a safe environment for all participants, coaches and volunteers by adhering to the First Tee safety guidelines * Be charismatic, personable, and motivational in working with youth *Qualifications*: * Prior experience in teaching, coaching, mentoring, childcare, education, or youth development preferred * Effective communication skills specific to youth and teens * Professional and Reliable * Exemplifies a high standard in performance, dress, and conduct at all times * Strong work ethic, punctuality, and trust ensures program integrity and success * Motivational * Sets an inspiring example for the youth and families served by First Tee * Patience and passion to help children grow into good golfers and better people * Leadership * Must attend an upcoming Level I Training * Preference will be given to candidates with relative prior experience *General*: * All candidates must complete and submit to a Safesport Background Check & Safety Training * *Classes are primarily held at golf courses throughout the Inland Empire region. Each coach has the opportunity to coach classes throughout the region, and not only in the designated city this position is being posted for.
