About the role
The City of Canning is looking for an experienced Course Superintendent to drive development and continuous improvement of Whaleback Public Golf Course.
Located in Parkwood, 15 minutes south of the Perth CBD in the City of Canning, Whaleback Golf Course is an 18-hole course with a new Rainbird irrigation system, extensive practice facilities including a two-storey state of the art, day/night driving range equipped with Top Tracer software. Exciting upgrades projects in the coming years will position Whaleback Golf Course as a premium public golf facility.

About the role

Reporting to the Manager Whaleback Golf, you will be responsible for:
- Implementing a high standard of maintenance to ensure the best presentation of Whaleback Golf Course and surrounds.
- Coordinate the servicing and replacement of the extensive range of late model golf course maintenance equipment.
- Providing leadership and direction in on-course developments and improvements
- Ensuring a safe environment for golfers and staff.
- Developing and deliver a budgeted work program to achieve the Course Maintenance Plan
- Developing course maintenance staff to a high skill level and employ those skills in their day-to-day activity to continually improve productivity and efficient work practices
- Driving the establishment and implementation of human resource management programs including training of employees and apprentices in turf management best practices
- Ensuring effective management of internal and external resources to deliver course maintenance programs
- The position requires the appointee to participate in a 7-day roster on rotational basis with regular early starts.
- Liaising with external stakeholders
- Working closely with the Golf and Food & Beverage operations teams
To be successful, you will have:
- Certificate or Diploma in Turf Management.
- Over 5 years’ experience as an Assistant Superintendent or currently holding the position of Superintendent at a golf course.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Experience with the preparation and management of budgets.
- Current Drivers Licence (C class)
- Experience in procurement of goods and services
- Current Satisfactory National Police Clearance

- Full-time permanent position (76 hours per fortnight)
- 9-day fortnight
- Salary range $83,865.00 – $99,907.61 per annum + super
- 17.5% annual leave loading and additional superannuation contribution matching
