Qualifications

Education and Experience: Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school and experience equivalent to two years of full-time work in Golf Course operations.

Substitution of Education for Experience: Pursuing a Professional Golfer's Association Membership or completion of the PGA Professional Golf Management program may be substituted for the required experience.

NSQs: A valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required for employment in some positions.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Competencies, and Tools/Equipment
[*]Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations[*]Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills[*]Self-motivated with desire to promote and market golf and the golf course[*]Able to provide excellent hospitality customer service[*]Experienced computer user including Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficient in other applications, i.e., email, internet, tournament, and database[*]Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry objects and bend, stretch, twist, or reach with one's body, arms, and/or legs
Overview

The Assistant Golf Professional is a supervisory role that plays a crucial role in the successful operation of the golf course.

Responsibilities
  • Assists with managing all aspects of golf course operations, including, but not limited to, scheduling tee times; managing golfcart and club rentals, the practice facility, and control of play on the golf course; and inventory control and merchandise sales of Golf Shop and Snack Bar.
  • Assists in tournament operations and weekly events.
  • Assists in reporting, recordkeeping, and planning and budgeting for the golf operations.
  • Leads player development programs.
  • Selects, trains, supervises, schedules, and evaluates golf staff to ensure the highest quality of customer service.
  • Responsible for timely and consistently maintaining the course's
  • United States Golf Association (USGA) Handicap System.
  • May act as the interim Golf Course Manager in their absence.
TN Driver Standards

State of Tennessee positions that may involve driving responsibilities require candidates to meet the following minimum driver qualifications:
  • A valid driver's license
  • For the past five years, the candidate's driver record must not have record of the following violations: driving under the influence (DUI), reckless driving, license suspension for moving violations, more than 4 moving violations.
