The hiring salary for this position is $59,114 - $62,067 annually.
[*]Have a strong understanding of turf grass culture, course conditioning, construction and reconstruction, the proper use of fertilizers and pesticides as well as irrigation equipment operation and maintenance; [*]In absence of the Course Superintendent lead maintenance efforts for golf course[*]Supervises personnel in various maintenance job responsibilities;[*]Operates all equipment; instructs others on safety operations and proper use;[*]Purchases necessary parts, tools, and supplies to support the shop and golf course maintenance in accordance with County policy;[*]Help plan, schedule and monitor all daily operations including insuring adequate staffing schedules for daily needs as well as coordination of leave requests;[*]Maintains records of minor and major maintenance repairs and safety inspections;[*]Assists with the preparation, implementation and monitoring of annual operating and capital budget for golf course;[*]Performs other duties as assigned.[*]Ability to gain thorough knowledge of St. Mary’s County Government policies and procedures; [*]Expert knowledge of machinery required to maintain the golf course;[*]Ability to communicate effectively with other staff and members of the public;[*]Ability to safely operate various heavy equipment.[*]Knowledge of safety regulations and established procedures for operating equipment as well as for ensuring public safety;[*]Ability to supervise and motivate subordinate staff;[*]Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records.[*]Associates degree;[*]Two years or more of job-related experience;[*]Or equivalent technical training, education, and/or experience.
Additional Requirements:[*]Must possess a valid Maryland Pesticide Applicator certificate or the ability to obtain one within 6 months from date of employment;[*]Must pass a physical examination prior to employment.[*]Position is classified as safety-sensitive and shall be subject to drug and alcohol testing as required under federal regulations.[*]Must successfully pass background investigation with favorable results;[*]Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
Physical and Environmental Conditions:
Work requires constant physical effort including some lifting or handling of heavy tools or materials of 60 pounds or more in addition to driving heavy vehicles.
Work involves risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, or machines. Employees may be required to use protective gear such as boots, gloves, and goggles; may require working in adverse weather conditions.
Full salary range for this position is $59,114 - $101,691 annually. The full salary range does not reflect the anticipated hiring salary for this position. The anticipated hiring range is $59,114 - $62,067 annually, based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience.
