About the Wembley Golf Course
Wembley Golf Course is a public golf facility owned and operated by the Town of Cambridge located 10kms from the CBD and 2 kms from City Beach in Perth, WA. The facility encompasses 36 holes, an 80 Bay two storey (automated) day/night driving range with Trackman Range, 18 hole mini golf course, shortgame and coaching areas, WA’s only PGA Centre of Learning & Performance and one of Australia’s biggest pro shops. With over 195,000 rounds per year and over 800,000 visitors to the facility per year Wembley Golf Course is arguably the busiest golf facility in Australia.
The Role
The Operations Manager is the driving force behind delivering exceptional service to every customer at Wembley Golf Course, using their dynamic leadership and a wealth of experience in public interactions. This thrilling role fosters WGC's growth by inspiring and guiding the team to uphold high standards across Golf shop operations, teaching, club fitting, retail, and customer service. With a strong focus on training, learning, and innovation, the Operations Manager ensures that WGC services are delivered to industry best practice.
Collaboration with key stakeholders including the General Manager, Golf Course Superintendent, Management Accountant, and Events and Marketing Coordinator is integral to the role. Additionally, regular engagement with the Pro Shop, Outside Services, Administration, and Teaching Professionals is emphasised to provide mentorship and ensure expected customer service standards for both WGC members and the general public.
Externally, the role involves engaging with suppliers, vendors, contractors, and the community, prioritising a customer-centric approach for patrons using the pro shop, driving range, golf courses, and mini golf facilities.

Selection Criteria
The successful candidate will mirror the abovementioned values and demonstrate:
- Strong supervisory and staff performance management skills to manage, coach, and mentor staff to achieve high productivity and deliver excellent customer service in line with organisational values, standards and policies.
- Previous experience in managing Golf Shop operations in accordance with defined policies and procedures, including managing stock lines and levels, and/or Golf Tuition is desirable
- Certified PGA Professional with minimum Advanced accreditation in at least one of the following recognised PGA ACE streams - Small Business, Management and or Game Development is essential.
- Demonstrated communication, customer service and interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and resolve conflicts including the ability to relate to and liaise with staff, the public and suppliers.
- Demonstrated organisational and time management skills and the ability to plan, organise and set outcomes.
- Sound competency in the use of golf related programs such as Miclub, Swiftpos, BookItLive, Shopify, Function Tracker and Deputy, as well as Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Experience in dealing with suppliers and managing stock lines and levels within defined thresholds and an understanding of current market and industry trends.
- Other relevant Tertiary Qualifications are looked upon favourably.
