Night Golf Starter (PT 28 hrs.)
Job Title: Night Golf Starter
Classification: Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for organizing playing groups to ensure that the start and continuance of play is timely. This position is responsible for checking each customer’s ticket to ensure proper payment. Assures that all groups tee off at their assigned time and manages the tee box in accordance to the tee time structure. Prevents players from entering course beyond starting tee. Prohibits the consumption of outside beer and alcohol on the premises. This position requires extensive interaction with the patrons and a pleasant personality is of high importance. Advises players to speed up or slow down in order to alleviate bottlenecks. Cautions players against tearing up turf or otherwise abusing course. Returns lost equipment to owner or to clubhouse. Keeps log of daily activities. May deliver urgent messages to players on course. Works closely with the cart and range attendants in assigning carts and picking up range balls. Also, will work closely with security when issues arise. Individual will perform other duties assigned by Director or his designee.
Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or G.E.D required. Knowledge and understanding of typical golf course procedures. Knowledgeable about the game of golf and its rules. EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS Applicant will be subject to a complete background investigation. Incomplete, inaccurate and/or failure to report information will cause the applicant rejection from consideration. Applicant must take and pass a drug, physical, and pre-placement screenings administered by the City of Mission doctor at the City’s expense. Applicant must have a current valid class “C” driver’s license from the Department of Public Safety with no more than two (2) moving traffic violations within the past two (2) years. Applicant must have a neat and professional appearance. Applicant must be able to work weekends, holidays in the evening until 11:00 pm.

SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS Ability to develop and maintain a good working relationship with co-workers and supervisor. Ability to make judgments and decisions to solve particular problems. Ability in communicating rules and/or managing course play. Ability to give oral information and/or convey spoken instructions to the public accurately. Ability to perform required role in emergency situations. EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS General office and safety equipment/materials to include but not limited to the following: Golf cart, Telephone, Golf balls, Clip Board 2 way radio, Copy machine, Golf Clubs, Uniform Safety equipment, Rule Sheets, Hard hat Policy & procedure handbook ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Verifies that all revenues have been properly recorded by inspecting receipts for all players before they depart for the course. Patrols golf course to prevent unauthorized persons from using the facility. Keeps play running smoothly and assists players as needed. Sends each group at the time they reserved. Helps enforce the dress code. Collared shirts are preferred; however, t-shirts are permitted without derogatory or offensive wording. Prevents players from entering course beyond starting tee. Monitors outside beer or alcohol. Players should not bring outside beer or alcohol onto the golf course. Advises players to speed up or to slow down to prevent any crowd from forming. Locates damaged or hazardous area and marks area for repair using a stake marker. Explains rules of game to players to settle disputes. Cautions players against tearing up turf or abusing course. Renders assistance to injured players by transporting them and their equipment to the clubhouse. Returns lost equipment to owner or to clubhouse. Keeps log of daily activities. May deliver urgent messages to players on the course. Understand City of Mission policy and procedures as related to job as necessary. Perform all job functions with particular attention to proper safety and city policies and procedures as related to the job position.
