*About the Role* We are seeking a self-motivated, reliable, detail-oriented *Preventive Maintenance Technician* to join our team on Bald Head Island. Because cars are not permitted on the island, golf carts and LSVs are the primary mode of transportation for residents, visitors, and operations. In this role, you will be the backbone of our customers’’ cart reliability, performing routine service and preventative care to keep our customers' vehicles running smoothly in a unique coastal environment. The right candidate will be a self-starter who is able to work independently and manage their time efficiently. *Key Responsibilities* * *Preventive Maintenance:* Perform routine scheduled maintenance on a fleet of electric golf carts and LSVs (e.g., Club Car, E-Z-GO, Yamaha), including battery service, tire rotations, brake inspections, and lubrication * *Diagnostics & Repairs:* Light troubleshoot for mechanical, electrical, and charging system issues; replace worn or broken parts efficiently * *Battery Management:* Inspect, test, water, and maintain lead-acid and lithium-ion battery packs, ensuring proper charging protocols are followed * *Technology: *Able to work well with computers and tablets * *Safety & Quality Control:* Conduct pre- and post-rental/operational safety checks to ensure all carts meet safety and aesthetic standards before heading back out on the island roads * *Workspace Upkeep:* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance shop and inventory area *Qualifications & Skills* * Proven experience as a mechanic, service technician, or small engine/electric vehicle technician (golf cart experience heavily preferred) * Strong working knowledge of electrical systems, 12V and high-voltage configurations, and battery maintenance * Ability to diagnose lite mechanical issues independently and use standard hand and power tools safely * Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record * Ability to pass a background and drug testing * High school diploma or equivalent * Strong work ethic and organizational skills, with the ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced seasonal environment * Comfortable working in a unique island setting that relies on ferry transportation *Physical Requirements* * Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods * Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (frequently lifting batteries, tires, and parts) * Comfort working in various weather conditions (coastal heat, humidity, and occasional rain) *What We Offer* * Competitive hourly pay * Ferry ticket / parking pass for daily commute * Health insurance, 401(k), paid time off * A unique, tight-knit island work environment where no two days are the same _To apply, please submit your resume or a brief overview of your mechanical experience to [Insert Email Address or Application Link]._ Pay: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 – 40.0 per week Work Location: In person
