Job Description This position is responsible for the operation and management of the Maintenance and Operations Division of the golf course. The position is under general direction of the Director of Golf. Incumbent is responsible for supervising the maintenance programs, maintenance equipment, and any construction projects that may arise during their tenure. Additionally, they are responsible for rendering professional advice, opinions, assistance and services to the Advisory board as required; and participate in long-range planning

Job Responsibilities 1. Manages and maintains golf course properties, which include golf course and practice areas, maintenance equipment, golf cart fleet, clubhouse, grounds and landscaping, potable water on course, unused acreage, and areas outside the perimeter fence as specified by the Director of Golf.
2. Oversees the maintenance staff and equipment of the Champion Lake Golf Course.
3. Abides by the safety rules and regulations of the Golf Course to maintain a safe environment for employees and patrons of the golf course.
4. Evaluates the agronomic and playing conditions of Champion Lake Golf Course, addressing any existing issues, plans, and estimated costs for possible solutions and establishes completion dates for each project.
5. Supervises the construction, renovation and/or reconstruction of such properties, whether performed by staff or outside contractors.
6. Maintains accurate and complete records on inventory, weather data, maintenance procedures, pesticide application, etc.
7. Oversees the scheduling and routing of personnel and equipment to accomplish work tasks efficiently.
8. Purchases necessary supplies and equipment needed to maintain golf course properties.
9. Approves all maintenance expenditures, and exercises cost control measures to keep operating and capital expenses in line with the approved budget.
10. Assists the Director of Golf in the preparation of the overall annual budget by preparing and formulating the annual budgets for maintenance and capital improvements of the golf course properties.
11. Attends workshops and seminars related to Golf Course operations.
12. Performs other functions normally associated with the maintenance and upkeep of a golf course.
13. Completes other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Minimum Requirements[*]1. Job requires an Associate’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university. A Bachelor’s degree or an Associate’s in Agronomy or Turfgrass Management preferred.
2. Job requires a minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Golf Course Superintendent at an established 18-hole golf course.
3. Must be knowledgeable of golf principles and methodologies.
4. Job requires a current, valid Texas Class C driver’s license.
5. Job requires proficiency in software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.
6. Must be able to prepare reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
7. Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, the general public, and management.
8. Must be customer-service oriented; always have a customer friendly attitude and professional appearance.

Physical Requirements 1. Employee has frequent exposure to pleasant and unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards.
2. Additional physical demands available upon request.



Additional Information

1. This position is safety sensitive, subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
2. This position has supervisory responsibilities over others.
3. This position requires the ability to be on-call 24 hours.
4. This position requires the employee to work a flexible schedule of six days per work week, including weekends and holidays.
