About the First Tee – Fresno
First Tee - Fresno is a youth development organization that enables kids to build the strength of character that empowers them through a lifetime of new challenges. By seamlessly integrating the game of golf with a life skills curriculum, we create active learning experiences that build inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience that kids carry to everything they do.
Position Summary
The First Tee Coach is responsible for teaching The First Tee Nine Core Values, The
First Tee Nine Healthy Habits, life skills, and all aspects of the game of golf to youth and teens, through the delivery of the First Tee’s Golf & Life Skills Curriculum. The First
Tee Coach will work with volunteer coaches to lead a class of up to 16 participants ages 7 – 18. The program is taught in a fun and interactive way using a combination of both traditional golf and non-traditional methods.
Commitment
Coaches must be able to commit to teaching First Tee’s Programs on weekday nights AND Saturdays. Each class meets once a week for an hour and a half for an eight-week session in the Spring (March-May), Summer (June-August), and Fall
(September – November). During the off-season (December-February), coaches prepare for future programming, attend trainings, assist the Executive/Program
Director, implement Middle School programming, help with fundraisers, and more.
Committing to an evening class once a week for each 8-week long session. The class we are currently looking to fill is at Ridge Creek in Dinuba.
If you are interested in coaching outside of Dinuba, we have hours for you at Fresno golf course locations as well.
Job Duties and Requirements
The role of a Golf and Life Skills Coach is to provide a high-quality, engaging learning experience. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Promote the First Tee’s mission by modeling the First Tee Nine Core Values and adherence to the First Tee Code of Conduct.
Be active in the First Tee Coach Program.
Maintain a professional and cordial attitude towards co-workers, volunteers, participants and their parents
Proficient in the delivery of TARGET, PLAYer, and Par curriculum.
Ensure that classes are set up according to the lesson plan.
Utilize yardage books during class time and encourage participants to use books outside of class.
Provide a safe environment in all areas.
Conduct pre-lesson sessions for coaches and volunteers prior to the start of every class. Be charismatic, personable, and motivational in working with youth
Available to attend academies, regional and annual meetings and training sessions
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma
Ability to pass a background check
Reliable transportation
Desired Experience:
Experience in youth development or coaching
Knowledge of golf terms, rules, equipment, etc.
Work Remotely
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
