The Golf Course Maintenance department is pivotal in upholding these high standards, and we are seeking a dedicated Head Mechanic to join our team.



Job Summary:

The Golf Course Maintenance Head Mechanic oversees the maintenance, repair, and operation of all golf course turf and landscaping equipment. This position ensures equipment functionality, workplace safety, and operational efficiency, contributing to the overall success of golf course operations. The Head Mechanic leads a team, manages inventory, and ensures compliance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Equipment Maintenance and Repairs:
    • Perform routine, scheduled, and diversified mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic maintenance on turf equipment.
    • Repair and adjust reels, grind to manufacturer specifications, and service small engines, mowers, generators, and pressure cleaners.
    • Inspect, replace, and repair hydraulic pumps, motors, hoses, and lines in accordance with OEM recommendations.
    • Service and install batteries, terminals, and electrical components on turf equipment.
  • Inventory and Requisitioning:
    • Monitor tool inventory, equipment, and parts to maintain consistent replenishment aligned with demand.
    • Requisition tools, shop equipment, replacement parts, and other materials as needed.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Train team members in equipment maintenance, repair procedures, and workplace safety practices.
  • Workplace Safety:
    • Promote workplace safety by examining fuel storage, tools, and equipment for defects or unsafe conditions.
    • Conduct employee safety training to prevent workplace accidents and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Record Keeping and Continuous Improvement:
    • Maintain accurate records of purchased equipment, parts, and repairs.
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of workshop operations by participating in team meetings and sharing expertise.
  • Diverse Equipment Proficiency:
    • Work on a wide variety of turf and landscaping equipment, including Toro, Club Car, and Foley equipment.
    • Service and repair 2-stroke equipment, mowers, generators, and pressure cleaners.
Certifications and Licenses:
  • 2-Stroke Certification
  • Small Engine Certification
  • Level 1 Welding and Fabrication Certification
  • Level 1 Diesel Engine Certification
  • Toro Certification
Additional Required Skills:
  • Expertise in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repair of turf and landscaping equipment.
  • Proficiency in servicing small engines and specialized golf course machinery.
  • Experience with welding, fabrication, and basic diesel engine diagnostics and repairs.
  • Ability to lead and train a team, with strong organizational and scheduling skills.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety standards and practices.
  • Competency in maintaining accurate records and managing inventory.
  • Familiarity with OEM specifications and industry-standard maintenance practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and adaptability to changing priorities.
Preferred Skills:
  • Familiarity with golf course operations and turf management.
  • Experience with Toro and other specialized golf course equipment.
  • Ability to contribute to process improvements and workshop efficiency.
