At Champion Hills, Tom Fazio devised a brilliant routing through forested hills, deep ravines and cool mountain streams. He pulled ridges into valleys and filled hollows to create “playing platforms” providing golfers with level lies amid 350-feet of elevation change.
“Six holes play slightly uphill on the entire course, but only six,” Fazio says, smiling. “Overall, the majority of holes play downhill.”

Experience Required
Minimum Qualifications for the Head Golf Professional
- Class A PGA Professional
- Minimum of 3 years as an Assistant at a High-End Private or Resort Facility
- Proven record in Staff development, mentoring, and growth
- Experienced in execution of superior customer service
- Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
- Working knowledge of best practices in retail operations and tournament management
The Head Golf Professional job duties include but are not limited to:
- Ensures that the policies and procedures of the operation and club are being upheld.
- Avails him or herself to directly impact the continued improvement of the member experience. Maintains a friendly, hospitable, and helpful attitude with all members, guests, and fellow employees.
- Manages the coordination of tournaments and special events.
- Consults with Director of Grounds about golf course and practice facility operations, maintenance, and rules.
- Provides members with instruction and club fitting.
- Helps develop Instructional Programming/Clinics
- Devotes a reasonable amount of time to play golf with members.
- Represents the club in area professional events
- Attends and actively participates in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
- Attend club committee meetings and present golf department updates and reports.
