Position Summary The High School Varsity Golf Coach is responsible for leading, organizing, and developing the school’s golf program. This includes coaching student-athletes in the fundamentals of golf, fostering academic and athletic excellence, ensuring compliance with school and league policies, and promoting a positive team culture rooted in sportsmanship, discipline, and personal growth. Essential Duties and Responsibilities ● Plan, organize, and conduct practices, matches, and off-season training sessions ● Instruct athletes in techniques, strategy, rules, and etiquette appropriate for high school golf ● Promote teamwork, discipline, respect, and responsibility among athletes ● Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes during practices, matches, and travel ● Develop and maintain a culture of academic accountability and personal development ● Supervise assistant coaches and collaborate with the athletic department and school staff ● Maintain inventory of equipment and uniforms; ensure proper use and storage ●Monitor and enforce compliance with all school, district, league, and state regulations ● Keep accurate daily attendance ● Travel to all away matches and follow all vehicle laws when driving district vehicles ● Engage with families, the community, and booster organizations as appropriate ● Uphold and model district and school policies, expectations, and values Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities ● Strong understanding of golf techniques, course strategy, and rules of play ● Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and community ● Leadership skills with the ability to build relationships and motivate athletes ● Organizational skills for managing team operations, schedules, and logistics ● Knowledge of CIF or applicable high school athletic governing body rules Minimum Qualifications ● Experience playing and/or coaching golf at the high school level or higher ● High school diploma or equivalent ● Current CPR/First Aid certification required prior to first practice ● Completion of all required CIF coaching certifications prior to first practice Preferred Qualifications ● Prior experience as a head or assistant golf coach ● Valid teaching credential or other employment with the school/district ● Familiarity with California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) bylaws and expectations Working Conditions ● Seasonal position with practices and matches during evenings and weekends ● Exposure to outdoor weather and physical activity over extended periods ● Requires physical fitness sufficient to demonstrate techniques and respond to emergencies Pay: $2,760.00 per year Work Location: In person
