JOIN THE TAMARISK TEAM Tamarisk Country Club is seeking an experienced and motivated *Head Irrigation/Weekend Foreman* to join our Golf Course Maintenance team. This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing irrigation operations and providing hands-on direction to the Grounds Maintenance team, particularly during weekend operations. The ideal candidate is an experienced irrigation professional who takes pride in exceptional golf course conditions, enjoys working with a team, and understands the importance of maintaining the property to *Tamarisk Country Club’s high standards for quality, presentation, safety, and service.* WHAT YOU'LL DO Weekend Foreman & Team Leadership * Serve as the primary grounds maintenance lead during assigned weekend shifts. * Direct, coordinate, and prioritize daily work assignments for grounds and irrigation staff. * Ensure weekend maintenance priorities are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule. * Provide hands-on guidance and support to team members while working alongside the crew as needed. * Monitor employee performance, productivity, attendance, and adherence to established work standards. * Communicate daily priorities, course conditions, irrigation concerns, equipment issues, and completed work to the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent. * Ensure the team is properly equipped, organized, and prepared to perform assigned duties. * Address routine operational issues in a professional and timely manner and escalate significant concerns to management. * Promote teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and a positive work environment. Golf Course & Grounds Maintenance * Assist with daily golf course and landscape maintenance, including mowing, trimming, edging, blowing, planting, pruning, mulching, and general grounds care. * Monitor turf, trees, plants, landscaped areas, and course conditions for signs of stress, disease, pests, drainage issues, or irrigation deficiencies. * Assist with seasonal projects including aeration, overseeding, sodding, landscaping improvements, and course preparation. * Assist with fertilizer and pesticide applications under the direction of the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent and in accordance with applicable regulations. * Operate and maintain a variety of grounds maintenance and irrigation equipment, including mowers, utility vehicles, trimmers, blowers, pumps, irrigation tools, and related equipment. * Maintain tools, equipment, work areas, irrigation facilities, and grounds maintenance areas in a clean and organized condition. Safety & Compliance * Ensure all work is performed in accordance with club safety policies, departmental procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements. * Promote safe work practices and immediately address unsafe conditions or behaviors. * Properly use personal protective equipment and ensure team members do the same. * Follow proper procedures for chemical handling, equipment operation, irrigation repairs, and other potentially hazardous tasks. * Report accidents, injuries, equipment damage, irrigation failures, and safety concerns promptly to management. * Support environmentally responsible water management and conservation practices. Member & Guest Service * Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude while working throughout the club property. * Be courteous and respectful when interacting with members, guests, coworkers, and other departments. * Recognize that grounds and golf course conditions directly contribute to the overall member experience. * Minimize disruption to members and guests while performing maintenance activities whenever reasonably possible. * Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Golf Course Maintenance Department and overall club operations. * Program, operate, and adjust irrigation controllers and watering schedules based on turf needs, weather conditions, seasonal requirements, and course conditions. * Inspect irrigation systems regularly to identify leaks, broken sprinkler heads, valves, wiring, controllers, pumps, and other system issues. * Troubleshoot and repair irrigation components and make necessary adjustments to maintain proper water distribution and system efficiency. * Monitor water usage and irrigation performance and communicate concerns or unusual conditions to the Golf Course Superintendent. * Maintain accurate records of irrigation repairs, system issues, water usage, and maintenance activities. * Assist with irrigation projects, system upgrades, installations, and improvements. * Respond promptly to irrigation emergencies or system failures, including during weekend operations. * Work closely with the Superintendent to ensure irrigation practices support overall turf health and playing conditions. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR * 3–5 years of experience in golf course irrigation, landscaping, turf maintenance, or a related field. * Previous lead, foreman, or supervisory experience preferred. * Degree or advanced knowledge in *Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Science, Soil Science*, or enrollment in a Turfgrass Management program preferred. * Strong knowledge of golf course irrigation systems, troubleshooting, repair, and water management. * Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. * Knowledge of turfgrass care, horticulture practices, and golf course maintenance standards. * Certified and/or licensed for pesticide application preferred. * *Qualified Applicator License or Certificate (QAL/QAC)* issued by the California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR), or the ability to obtain the required license/certificate. * Strong communication, organization, reliability, and attention to detail. * Ability to lead a team, prioritize work, and make sound decisions with minimal supervision. * Valid California driver's license required. * Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including weekends and holidays. * Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
