Summary and Scope of Position: The Ursinus College Athletic department has an immediate opening for Head Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach. This is a part-time position. The candidate will be responsible for the administration and organization of a successful program that competes in the Centennial Conference and adheres to all NCAA Division III rules.
Specific Responsibilities: The Head Coach of the men’s and women’s golf program at Ursinus will be responsible for the following job duties:
  • Prepare, schedule and organize practice sessions, preparation for competition and off-season training
  • Organize, direct, and mentor the coaching staff to carry out the goals and objectives of the program
  • Schedule competitions in consultation with the Athletics administrators
  • Organize and administer the recruiting of prospective student-athletes in accordance with the NCAA, Centennial Conference, and Ursinus College policies and procedures
  • Manage all aspects of fundraising, alumni relations, and community outreach
  • Responsibly expend allocated budget and ensure that the budget balances each fiscal year
  • Engage in regular consultation with athletic training personnel to maximize the safety and wellness of student-athletes
  • Implement appropriate risk management strategies at all times
  • Demonstrate concern for the overall welfare of student-athletes at all times
  • Work collaboratively with the Compliance Officers in regards to the rules and regulations of the NCAA and Centennial Conference
  • Field a team that will be as competitive as possible within the guidelines set by the NCAA, Centennial Conference and Ursinus College
  • Work to ensure the ongoing eligibility of athletes and monitor their academic progress
  • Provide general advising, mentoring and support to student-athletes
  • Engage in ethical decision-making and outstanding sportsmanship
  • Execute all of these responsibilities as head coach in a manner that reflects an ongoing commitment to the excellence, integrity and success of the men’s and women’s golf program, of the Department of Athletics, and Ursinus College
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Previous coaching experience preferred
  • Knowledge of rules and techniques of the sport
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, delegation and planning ability
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and regulations
  • Experience with recruiting and fundraising
