Established in 2004, The Golf Travel People has one of the very best reputations in the UK golf travel industry, with a verified 5.0/5.0 rating on Trustpilot.
Each year we look after thousands of clients, tailoring every golf trip to the individual's requirements.
This role sits at the heart of that promise. You will be the first voice many customers hear, and the person who helps them choose, book and look forward to their trip.
Key responsibilities
• You will look after each customer from first enquiry to confirmed booking.
• Deliver excellent customer service and help the team give every customer a smooth booking experience
• Respond to enquiries by phone, email and online
• Understand each customer's group size, budget, playing standard and preferred dates and destinations
• Build clear, accurate quotes and tailored golf holiday itineraries covering golf, accommodation and transfers
• Recommend courses, resorts and destinations based on first-hand product knowledge
• Follow up on quotes, confirm bookings and take deposits and balance payments in line with company procedures
• Manage golf groups and societies, including repeat clients, and build long-term relationships
• Work with suppliers, hotels and golf courses to confirm availability, rates and tee times
• Pass confirmed bookings to the post-sale team with complete, accurate information
• Keep customer records, enquiries and quotes up to date in our booking systems
• Spot upsell opportunities such as extra rounds, upgrades and add-ons
• Occasionally represent the company at golf shows and events
• Travel occasionally on supplier inspection and familiarisation trips, including some weekends
About you
• You are a friendly, knowledgeable golfer who enjoys helping other golfers plan the perfect trip.
• Proven customer-facing experience, ideally in travel, hospitality or golf
• Excellent telephone and written communication, with a warm, professional manner
• Strong numeracy and attention to detail, as quotes and itineraries must be right first time
• Ability to manage a busy pipeline and prioritise follow-ups without being chased
• A regular golfer, with first-hand experience of playing a variety of courses, preferably including outside the UK
• Strong IT skills, including email and booking systems
• A team player who is also happy working independently
• Willing and able to travel in the UK and Europe, including occasional weekends, and hold a full driving licence.
Desirable extras
These are a bonus, not a requirement.
• Previous experience working in golf travel
• First-hand knowledge of golf destinations including Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Scotland, Cyprus, Greece and Turkey
• Experience selling golf travel to golf societies, clubs or corporate groups
• Experience with package travel sales and the Package Travel Regulations
• Foreign language skills, such as Spanish or Portuguese
What we offer
• Competitive salary, pro rata for part-time hours, with no sales targets or commission.
• 28 days’ holiday plus bank holidays (pro rata for part-time), with days off in lieu when supplier inspection trips fall at weekends or on bank holidays
• Industry discounts and the chance to join supplier familiarisation (fam) trips to play the courses you sell
• Training on our products, systems and destinations
• Hybrid working considered after a successful first year (the role is office based)
• Workplace pension
How to apply
Please email your CV and a short covering note to dan@golftravelpeople.com, explaining why you would be a great fit, including your golf and travel experience. Please include your salary expectations and your notice period.
