Irrigation Technician

Are you newly graduated from turf school and are looking for your first job in the golf course industry? Or, maybe you are someone who has been in the grounds maintenance/ lawn care business before and are looking for a change of career path? If this sounds like you, then you are strongly encouraged to apply for this position. The Irrigation Technician will work closely with the Head Superintendent and the Assistant Superintendent to manage and improve the golf course and the surrounding grounds of the Country Club of Harrisburg. This is a full-time position that will offer the opportunity for 40 hours (Monday-Friday) plus OT on a weekly basis. It is expected that you will work every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday), and some holidays as well. You will be given the opportunity to learn all aspects of golf course management, and further develop your current skills. The right candidate will understand the time commitment that comes with maintaining a golf course during the demanding months of the playing season.

Pay: $20-25/hour based on experience

Responsibilities and Duties

• Assist in personnel management and planning of assignments
• Training of crew members in new tasks
• Lead crews to accomplish tasks as assigned
• Operation of all golf course machinery in a safe and responsible manner
• Extensive experience in irrigation system repairs, operating, and troubleshooting or other related experience
• Proper management of soil moisture levels
• Tree removal
• Basic landscape maintenance
• Assist in the monitoring and maintenance of the clubhouse drinking water system
• Snow removal
• Other tasks as assigned by the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent

Requirements

• Minimum of 1-2 years' experience working in golf maintenance or another related field
• Preferred candidate would have previous work experience in making irrigation repairs/maintenance or similar work experience
• Preferred 2 or 4 year turf degree/other related degree, or equivalent combination of education and related work experience
• Must have a valid driver's license
• Must be organized with good communication skills, reliable, and punctual
• Is a self-motivator who is capable of working independently without direct supervision
• Must be physically capable of completing simple manual labor tasks
• Must be willing to work outside in all weather conditions

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
