*Overview* The *Golf Course Superintendent* is a key member of the Hinton Golf Club leadership team, responsible for the overall maintenance, conditioning, presentation, and long-term care of our 18-hole golf course and grounds. This hands-on leadership role oversees all turfgrass management, irrigation systems, equipment and maintenance programs, course improvement projects, pesticide and fertilizer applications, budgeting, purchasing, and the recruitment, training, scheduling, and supervision of the grounds team. Working closely with the General Manager and Director of Golf, the Superintendent will develop and execute maintenance plans that deliver excellent playing conditions while balancing environmental stewardship, operational efficiency, available resources, and the long-term health of the golf course. We are looking for a knowledgeable, motivated, and collaborative turf professional who takes pride in their course and enjoys leading a team. The ideal candidate will bring strong turfgrass and agronomic knowledge, proven leadership skills, sound financial and organizational abilities, and a proactive approach to course maintenance and problem-solving. This is an opportunity to play an important role in the continued growth of *Hinton Golf Club*, while living and working in the heart of Alberta’s spectacular foothills, surrounded by mountains, trails, lakes, and endless opportunities for outdoor recreation. *Duties* * Manage daily operations of the golf course maintenance team, providing supervision and guidance to ensure high standards of turf health and presentation * Oversee irrigation systems, ensuring optimal water management to promote healthy turf growth while conserving resources * Lead landscaping and gardening efforts to maintain vibrant plantings, trees, and natural features across the course * Coordinate construction projects related to course improvements or renovations, ensuring timely and quality execution * Develop and implement maintenance schedules for turfgrass, landscaping, and landscape features to sustain top-tier playing conditions * Monitor soil health, pest control measures, and fertilization programs to optimize turf vitality * Train staff in best practices for landscape maintenance, safety procedures, and equipment operation *Skills* * Extensive knowledge of irrigation systems, horticulture principles, gardening techniques, and landscape maintenance practices * Proven experience supervising maintenance teams with strong leadership skills to motivate and develop staff * Construction experience related to course development or renovation projects is highly desirable * Ability to plan, organize, and execute complex maintenance schedules efficiently * Strong communication skills for collaborating with team members, vendors, and management * Familiarity with environmental sustainability practices in turf management and water conservation * Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical issues with irrigation systems or landscape equipment This role offers a rewarding environment where your expertise directly impacts the quality of the golf course experience.
