About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Golf Course Superintendent to manage the pristine grounds of their premier golf course located in Vereeniging . This critical role within the Leisure & Sports sector is responsible for all aspects of golf course maintenance, including turfgrass management, irrigation systems, pest and disease control, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of agronomy and a commitment to maintaining world-class playing conditions for golfers in the Gauteng region.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily operations of golf course maintenance, ensuring high standards of turf quality and playability.
  • Develop and implement detailed agronomic plans, including fertilization, irrigation, mowing, and pest management programs.
  • Manage and train a team of groundskeepers and maintenance staff, ensuring efficient workflow and safety protocols.
  • Monitor course conditions, weather patterns, and golfer feedback to make timely adjustments.
  • Manage the budget for course maintenance, including labor, equipment, and materials procurement.
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and implement sustainable course management practices.
Requirements
  • Degree or diploma in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in golf course maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of turfgrass species, soil science, and integrated pest management.
  • Proficiency with irrigation systems, course maintenance equipment, and related technologies.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and maintain a demanding schedule in Vereeniging .
