Golf Course Superintendent

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and detail-oriented superintendent to oversee all aspects of golf course maintenance and grounds operations. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring exceptional playing conditions through effective turfgrass management, irrigation oversight, equipment maintenance, staff leadership, budgeting, safety compliance, and continuous course improvement.

This position requires a hands-on leader with strong agronomic knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage daily operations while maintaining course standards. The superintendent must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as required by seasonal and operational demands.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive turfgrass management and maintenance programs.
  • Monitor and maintain the health and playability of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, and practice facilities.
  • Manage and maintain the golf course irrigation system, including troubleshooting, repairs, programming, and adjusting irrigation schedules based on weather conditions and turf requirements.
  • Monitor turf health and identify, diagnose, and treat diseases, insects, and weeds.
  • Candidates must possess a spray licence as well as IPM certification or be willing to obtain certification upon employment.
  • Keep accurate records of operations
  • Supervise the maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance of golf course equipment and machinery.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of small engine mechanics and assist with equipment repairs as needed.
  • Assist with budgeting, inventory management, and purchasing of maintenance supplies, equipment, fertilizers, and chemicals.
  • Lead, train, and supervise maintenance staff while promoting a safe, productive, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for golf course improvements and projects.
  • Effectively communicate with ownership
Qualifications
  • Experience in golf course maintenance, turfgrass management, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of turfgrass management, irrigation systems, and golf course maintenance practices.
  • IPM Certification, or the ability to obtain certification within an established timeframe.
  • General understanding of small engine mechanics and equipment maintenance.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively managing multiple priorities.
  • Valid driver's license required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions.
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
