Golf Course Superintendent – 36 Holes

Nottawasaga Resort is proud to announce that we are now hiring for the position of Head Golf Superintendent for the upcoming 2024 golf season.

Nottawasaga Resort is an all-season Resort featuring a 269-room hotel, multiple restaurants, full-service conference facilities, an onsite twin pad hockey arena, 2 professionally groomed soccer fields, a 70000 sq. foot fitness facility and 36 holes of championship golf.

The successful applicant will be a highly motivated individual who takes pride in professionally maintained and manicured golf courses, the practice areas and the overall Resort property.

Expected responsibilities to include:

• Supervising, leading and assisting in all maintenance programs and day to day turf operations.
• Supervising turf irrigation, water usage and irrigation maintenance for golf courses and Resort properties including grass, trees and plants.
• Supervising and participation in the application and usage of pesticides, fungicides and fertilizers as well as developing an annual plan for chemical and fertilizing use.
• Management of all playing areas: tees, greens, fairways, rough, hole locations, marker placement, sand traps, cart paths, way finding and surrounding resort property.
• Being an effective role model, communicator and leader who will set a positive example to all employees and guests.
• Mentoring and supervising the training of new and returning staff on job functions as well as the care and safety of all maintenance equipment
• Assisting in the recruitment of new employees
• Frequent communication with the Director of Golf to discuss plans, customer feedback, events.
• Proper record keeping and logs for water usage, fertilization and chemical applications
• Scheduling, payroll administration and budgeting
• Performing other duties as required.

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years turf grass related experience at a golf course facility.
• 3-5 years of supervisory experience at a 27 or 36 hole golf course facility or similar property.
• Turf Management Diploma or equivalent
• Must hold a valid Ontario Landscape Pesticide Application License and have experience in fertilizing and pesticide application
• IPM Certification & Accreditation
• First Aid/CPR
• Experience with Toro irrigation systems an asset. The applicant will also be able to troubleshoot and resolve irrigation issues.
• Knowledge of expense management and budgeting.
• High attention to detail and highly organized.
