We’re seeking an experienced and passionate Golf Course Superintendent to lead the presentation and ongoing maintenance of our two scenic golf courses at The Country Club St Georges Basin and Vincentia. Reporting to the CEO and Senior Management, the Superintendent will oversee all course maintenance operations, from turf health and irrigation to team leadership and stakeholder engagement. You’ll work closely with internal departments, contractors and event organisers to ensure both courses are maintained to exceptional standards and ready for play and competition all year round.
This is a leadership role that combines operational planning, hands-on expertise, and strategic input to maintain the high-quality playing surfaces and surrounding landscapes The Country Club is known for.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver all turf management, landscaping, irrigation and equipment programs on time and to specification
Manage and mentor a dedicated team of 10 staff, including training, development, and performance management
Ensure compliance with WHS policies and procedures, including equipment safety and environmental regulations
Maintain efficient irrigation systems and implement sustainable water usage strategies
Oversee equipment servicing, maintenance schedules and machinery operation standards
Work within budget parameters and contribute to cost control, procurement and reporting
Collaborate with suppliers, stakeholders and Club departments to ensure seamless operations and event delivery
Maintain accurate operational records and drive continuous improvement in processes and procedures
Diploma or Certificate III (or higher) in Sports Turf Management / Horticulture / Greenkeeping
Proven leadership experience in golf course or turf management
Strong knowledge of irrigation systems, pest management, turf diseases, and bent grass green preparation
Experience maintaining operational budgets, work programs and team development
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Comfortable with digital systems (e.g., irrigation control software, record keeping)
Current Class C Driver’s Licence, White Card, AQF III Chemical Certificate
First Aid and Q Fever Vaccination (or willingness to obtain)
Competitive starting salary: $100,000 (excl. Super)
