POSITION SUMMARY:

Manages service operations within the dealership to maximize return on investment by optimizing Service Department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction. Grows profitable service labor sales and exercises disciplined expense control. Consistently exhibits Company’s core values of Commitment, Passion, Progressiveness, Integrity, and Value Delivery.

Qualifications

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
  • Direct, schedule and coordinate all Ag and Lawn and Garden and commercial repair work with customers and service technicians.
  • Provide diagnostic and technical support to all technicians by use of John Deere service programs and John Deere technical staff.
  • Handle customer complaints and provide customer estimates and quotes as needed.
  • Develops, communicates, and monitors effective service department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Work with all service techs to improve overall and individual service tech efficiencies.
  • Work closely with service secretary to improve work order processing and completion.
  • Work with service technicians and parts to secure needed repair parts to complete jobs as needed.
  • Responsible for completion of all new and used equipment make-readies.
  • Determine and implement the needed training for all service technicians.
  • Responsible for ensuring OSHA standards and company safety policies are complied with at all times.
  • Ensures all departmental tools, equipment and vehicles are kept in good working order.
  • Coordinates recruiting, staffing, and employ development activities for employees reporting to this position.
  • Responsible for the maintaining of service vehicle logs, and the submitting of monthly vehicle mileage reports and inspections.
  • Responsible for after-hours responses to service requests from customers.
  • Responsible to be available to work on an on-call basis, as needed.
  • Leads in promoting service work in a positive manner to maintain and gain new service business.
  • Monitors all warranty service and product improvement program expiration dates to keep within the required time frame to receive maximum credit.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications

DUCATION/EXPERIENCE DESIRED:
  • Knowledge of agriculture, especially farming and ranching.
  • Prior service managerial experience is a plus.
  • Familiar with John Deere and competitive equipment.
  • Basis understanding of financial principles relative to service department operations.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to write and speak effectively to individuals and groups.
  • Ability to use standard desktop, load applications, and internet functions.
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC:
  • Ability to use computer systems.
  • Ability to supervise employees.
  • Ability to work with the public.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Ability to safely operate vehicles.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS (Lifting, Bending, Stretching, etc.)
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and walking.
  • Ability to lift and move 60 pounds when needed.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time, in front of a computer.
  • Ability to safely operate and use a forklift.
  • Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Retail store and office environment.
  • Shop environment.
  • Sometimes required to travel.
  • Noise level can be loud at times.
  • At times, exposed to extreme hot, cold or wet weather conditions.
  • May require weekend or evening work.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

Must be a team player who is willing to cooperate with others.

Must be able to accept corrective criticism from supervisor.

Must be willing to take on a variety of assignments as assigned by management on an as-needed basis within the department and within other areas of King Ranch if necessary.
