The Golf Operations & Course Rating Lead is an important role for GA in the Clubs, Facilities, and Places to Play Team.The role will engage with a range of key stakeholders including clubs, officials, golfers, software vendors, R&A, USGA, PGA and other internal and external stakeholders.

You’ll combine your golf expertise with strong stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills to support clubs, facilities and the broader golf industry.
The role is predominantly worked during the week, with occasional out-of-hours and weekend commitments as required. You’ll also travel nationally and gain exposure to the international systems and relationships that underpin the game.
You’ll report to the National Golf Operations Manager and work closely with the Head of Golf Operations, Handicapping & Rules Lead, State Managers, key leaders across GA’s Clubs, Venues and Places to Play team, and colleagues across Golf Australia and the PGA. Your core responsibilities will include:

The incumbent will contribute to Golf Australia’s national governance and administration of the game across the following areas:

- Deliver course rating services to affiliated clubs and other places to play across Australia, ensuring the national service is delivered consistently, efficiently and to a high standard.
- Support the delivery and development of golf operations guidance, resources and services for clubs and other golfing experience providers, helping drive greater industry alignment with the Strategy for Australian Golf. This includes supporting clubs and other providers to broaden the range of engaging playing options available to golfers in response to the evolving preferences of current and prospective participants. Key priorities include facilitating mixed-gender play and advancing the ‘Best Tees for Each Golfer’ program to create more enjoyable and accessible playing experiences.
- Provide strategic advice and support across course rating, rules, handicapping and competition management, helping clubs and the wider golf industry apply these frameworks in ways that support greater participation, engagement and enjoyment of the game.
- Deliver education and capability-building programs across the Rules of Golf, course rating, handicapping and competition management, strengthening industry capability and supporting clubs and other providers to deliver engaging and player-focused experiences.
- Provide advice and strategic support to team leadership in the ongoing evolution of Golf Australia’s course rating and broader golf operations services, including identifying opportunities to improve service delivery, industry capability and the golfing experience.
- Undertake other duties and responsibilities as required to support the objectives of Golf Australia’s golf operations function.

The incumbent will contribute to Golf Australia’s national governance and administration of the game across the following areas:
- National handicapping: Supporting the operation, governance and ongoing enhancement of the national handicapping service.
- Course Rating: Supporting the operation and continuous improvement of the international Course Rating System in Australia, in conjunction with Australia’s world-leading statistical review and estimation tools.
- Rules of Golf: Supporting the administration, interpretation and application of the Rules of Golf across Australian golf.
- Competition policy: Supporting the development and administration of policies governing competitions and related activities across affiliated clubs and the broader Australian golf ecosystem.
- Rules of Amateur Status: Supporting the administration of the Rules of Amateur Status, including policies relating to club prizes.
- Equipment Rules: Supporting the administration and application of the Equipment Rules.
- International representation: Contributing to Australia’s representation within the international golf ecosystem and supporting the interests and objectives of Australian golf.
- Industry collaboration: Working collaboratively with state bodies, affiliated clubs, the PGA and other key stakeholders to strengthen consistency, capability and alignment across the Australian golf industry.
