Phillip Island Golf Club is seeking an experienced and progressive Golf Course Manager / Superintendent to lead the management, presentation, and future development of our course during an exciting period of change.
With a new dynamic administration, clearly defined course principles, and a soon-to-be delivered Course Master Plan, this is a rare opportunity for a leader who wants to leave a lasting legacy at a highly regarded coastal golf facility.
The successful applicant will report directly to the Club General Manager and play a critical leadership role in delivering the Club’s Course Charter, course strategy, and long-term development vision.
About the Role
This senior leadership role has responsibility for the overall management of the golf course and maintenance operations, ensuring consistent, high-quality presentation while balancing sustainability, playability, and long-term asset protection.
You will work closely with the General Manager, Course Committee, and key stakeholders to implement the Golf Course Management & Maintenance Program, champion course principles, and contribute meaningfully to the Club’s future course development.

Key Responsibilities
Course Maintenance & Planning
- Develop and present the annual Course Maintenance Plan and associated budgets
- Manage staffing levels, contractors, materials, and maintenance scheduling
- Oversee capital expenditure planning and rolling equipment replacement programs
- Ensure compliance with the Club’s Course Charter and agreed presentation standards
- Deliver consistent, high-quality course presentation aligned to defined standards
- Record and report daily maintenance activities and monthly course performance
- Manage turf health, infrastructure maintenance, and timely repair of equipment
- Lead occupational health and safety systems and training
- Advance the design and implementation of irrigation improvements, consistent with best practice and Club specifications
- Prepare costings, programs, and recommendations for course development works
- Contribute technical and operational expertise to the forthcoming Course Master Plan
- Lead, train, motivate, and develop the course maintenance team
- Conduct performance reviews and ongoing staff development
- Foster a positive, accountable, and safety-focused team culture
- Provide clear, timely course updates for member communications
- Engage with members regarding course conditions, works, and development initiatives
