The City of Danville is seeking a qualified Golf Course Manger.
This professional position oversees and directs the operations in the golf shop at Harrison Park Golf Course, and the maintenance of the course. Responsible for employing and supervising the golf shop staff and course play in direct coordination with the golf course supervisor. Includes marketing and event development and coordination. Overseeing the daily maintenance of Harrison Park Golf course and driving range.
Qualifications: The following are considered minimum qualifications. Extensive related experience will be considered in lieu of these position requirements if they represent similar skills, knowledge, and levels of responsibility.
Education - Candidate must have attained a two-year certificate or diploma from a community college or training program with courses in business, finance, turf grass management, golf course operations or similar related courses.
Other Information: Employees of the City of Danville are expected to be honest, courteous and helpful to the public and handle matters in confidence. The City Council has adopted a “Code of Ethics” that is applicable to all employees and officers of the City.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Golf Course Operations, Business Administration or Park and Recreation Management preferred.
- Consideration for candidates holding or pursuing a PGA Professional card.
- At least three to five years of practical and professional experience including at least two years of supervisory experience in this field or a closely related field.
- Basic computer skills including word processing, excel, and point of sale programs.
- Basic math skills include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and interest.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, including marketing and salesmanship capabilities.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills, demonstrate leadership, analysis and decision making abilities.
- Responsible for employing and managing pro shop staff. This includes, but is not limited to; golf cart staging and daily maintenance, daily activities of driving range, all duties and functions performed in pro shop including concessions and managing golf course rangers.
- Responsible for all scheduling and activities involved in daily play, outings, and tournaments.
- Position responsible for accounting and funds management for all transactions and auditing requirements.
- Responsible for helping manage the golf course operations budget.
- Responsible for opening and closing the facility.
- Responsible for appointments and meetings necessary to carry out plans and necessary tasks that will better enable the facility to function.
- Responsible for public awareness, of specialized maintenance tasks or Acts of God that may interrupt normal activities of the facility.
- Responsible for developing and implementing a marketing program to attract golfers and events to the facility.
- Responsible for the daily supervision of course maintenance, and scheduling of personnel.
