The Golf Clubhouse Manager/Golf Professional oversees the clubhouse operation and services offered including the golf shop, practice facilities, golf cart operation and concessions, including supervision of full and part time staff. This position will promote an exceptional "golf experience," and provide excellent services and programs for all patrons.

A DAY IN THE LIFE:
  • Oversee the management and performance of all clubhouse operations, including golf shop, concessions, driving range programs.
  • Oversee and develop efficient and profitable food and beverage and pro-shop merchandise operations for the municipal golf course that is consistent with customer/patron demographics and needs. Establish sales goals and forecasts. Generate, monitor, and analyze reports.
  • Supervise full-time and part-time employees including those in the Pro Shop, Snack Bar, Starters/Marshals, and Cart/Range Helpers. Oversee and approve all clubhouse staff time reports/payroll, purchase orders and invoices as requested.
  • Select, train, schedule and supervise a team focused staff that is responsible for sale of alcoholic beverages, food, golf equipment and collection of green fees, driving range fees, season fees and cart rental fees, as well as driving range and golf car services. Foster open communication within the facility.
  • Oversee the reservation system, starting and monitoring of play. Provide for the most efficient use of tee times and assure all tee times are properly scheduled.
  • Be a visible and accessible professional who takes a "hands on" approach to creating and overseeing the daily customer experience. Track and verify all players, golf carts, lockers, handicap fees and other charges necessary, and facilitate proper controls.
  • Stay current with actual and trending USGA rules. Officiate at various in-house tournaments when possible. Interpret and enforce City and course policies in an equitable and consistent manner.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the Golf Course Superintendent to coordinate turf-care practices, construction related projects, course closures and with tournament scheduling along with providing advice on course playability and tournament setup.
  • Oversee golf marketing initiatives including all promotional materials, play recruitment, season pass recruitment, advertising opportunities and special event activities conducted at the facility designed to increase the public interest and participation in golf using social media as well as traditional methods.
  • Assists the Golf Course Superintendent in developing and controlling the annual golf budget to achieve revenue and cost goals. Ensure billing, accounting and control practices meet City standards.
  • Develop, promote, and manage an innovative tournament schedule and golf activities program with social golf events and outings that services all customer segments. Work with area schools and continue to build those relationships.
  • Build and continually develop a strong instruction program for players of all abilities including outreach to introduce the game to people who currently do not play the game. Continue to improve the junior programs to increase participation and broaden the pool of competitive, passionate younger players and families.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED FOR SUCCESS:
  • EDUCATION: Completion of PGA Professional Golf Management Program or Graduation from an accredited university or college with emphasis in business management or recreation management is preferred. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
  • EXPERIENCE: The individual is preferred to have at least one year of experience as a Head Golf Professional and three years of experience as either an assistant to a Head Golf Professional or some level of clubhouse supervisory experience. Experience in operating a business at a supervisory level will be considered.
  • LICENSE: Individual must be a member in good standing of the PGA of America, Class B Associate Required, Class A preferred. (Must be able to obtain Class A status within 2 years and show significant progress during that period)
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
  • $44,179-$70,699 annual salary - Exempt
