Hamilton Island Golf Club Manager




Full time position living on the stunning Hamilton Island.




The spectacular Hamilton Island Golf Club located on Dent Island catches the soft sea breezes, and offers incredible views of the surrounding islands and the sparkling Coral Sea.




The 18-hole, par 71 Hamilton Island Golf Course is said to be one of the most challenging in the world. Designed by five-time British Open winner Peter Thomson, and taking full advantage of Mother Nature’s work, the course is strung along the spectacular ridges and steep valleys of Dent Island.




With incredible views, a contemporary design, and wide range of facilities and services, the Hamilton Island Golf Club’s Clubhouse is the perfect place to relax and unwind for golfers and restaurant guests.




An opportunity now exists for a Golf Club Manager to support our teams to achieve a consistently high standard of service, and ultimately create memorable golfing and dining experiences for our discerning guests.




About The Role

In conjunction with the General Manager Retail, Activities and Marina, you will be responsible for achieving operational and financial objectives of the Hamilton Island Golf Course (HIGC).




This includes:
  • Managing the end to end lifecycle of HIGC employees including recruitment, development, performance management
  • Maintaining an energised, motivated and highly skilled team and ensure a high standard of guest satisfaction
  • Achieving budgeted targets through monitoring product, labour costs and wastage, rostering, being accountable for management of monthly costs, inventory and daily operating costs and purchasing and control of equipment and tools required for operations
  • Compliance with all statutory, WH&S and HIE standards, procedures and processes including (but not limited to) RSA, food safety, GRUMPA reporting and payments
  • Developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and training manuals for all HIGC operations
  • In conjunction with Sales and Marketing, advertising, marketing and positioning the Golf Course to maximise revenue and drive room night sales within our hotels
  • Managing the operational requirements of the HIGC, including golf availability, merchandise ranging and stock levels, buggy fleet availability and maintenance, building maintenance and golf briefings
  • Working effectively with the Superintendent to schedule necessary course and green renovations with minimal disruptions to guest experiences
  • Working with our Events team to organise and deliver events such as golf days, weddings etc

You are a true business professional, with years of experience at management level in the resort or golf course industry.

You are passionate about developing your team and have excellent communication skills at all levels.




To be successful in the role you will need:
  • Proven management skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team, with emphasis placed on team building and mentoring skills and abilities
  • Passion to deliver extraordinary guest experiences
  • Demonstrated extensive operational and administrative experience within a resort environment
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and great problem-solving skills
  • Passion to further develop your skills and progress in your career
  • Strong business and technical knowledge including operations management, service, cuisine and wine



You will also have:
  • Min 5 years’ experience within a Golf Course or integrated resort setting (Essential)
  • Min 5 years’ experience in Senior Management roles (Essential)
  • Minimum diploma of Management or similar industry related qualification (Desired)
  • Bachelor of Business or similar (preferred)
  • Current Class C Driver’s License (Required)
  • Nationally recognised or QLD RSA (Required)
  • Food safety supervisors certificate (desirable)
  • Event and Golf tournament experience (desirable)
