JOB OVERVIEW:
The Golf Course Maintenance Operator 1 will be under the direction of the assistant superintendents, operates all types of equipment, and does related work as needed for the golf course maintenance department.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Most tasks are performed outdoors in variable weather conditions, including hot, cold, windy and wet weather. Temperature can be extreme but is usually moderate. Frequently works near moving/mechanical parts. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to reach with arms and hands; bend and stoop; remain at post standing for extended periods of time; required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Golf Course Maintenance Operator I
JOB OVERVIEW:
The Golf Course Maintenance Operator 1 will be under the direction of the assistant superintendents, operates all types of equipment, and does related work as needed for the golf course maintenance department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Operates various mowers, string trimmers, aerifiers, and other important types of equipment. Operates all equipment authorized by supervisor when needed.
- Utilizes loaders and tractors to haul or remove material directed by supervisor.
- Operates tractors with implements attached.
- Maintains fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment on a daily basis. Reports equipment problems or failure to the equipment manager immediately.
- Returns all equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility, and takes responsibility for cleaning any equipment he/she has used.
- Assists in project work such as drainage, sod laying, preparing base soil, and any other projects that may arise through the season.
- May be asked to change pins and move tee markers within our course set up program
- May be asked to help with chemical and fertilizer applications under the supervision of the Chemical Technician.
- Applies sand with topdressors to greens, tees and fairways
- Participates in our handwatering program, knows how to tap into irrigation heads
- Assists in the daily safety meetings with supervisors and managers.
- Maintains effective communication and cooperation with all other departments.
- Maintains positive interactions with club members and guests, providing a high level of customer service.
- Performs any and all duties as assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent or other members of the senior management team, as deemed appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong interpersonal skills; team oriented.
- Previous experience on golf course is required
- Ability to comprehend instructions given in English or Spanish
- General knowledge of golf game and the course preferred.
- Ability to work 7 days a week, weekends and holidays.
- Perform job responsibilities and operate equipment according to the company safety and training programs
- Minimum of two years' work experience at a golf course.
- Knowledge of safe and efficient operation of all equipment.
- Working knowledge of operating hand and power tools and equipment.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Knowledge of methods and materials used in golf course grounds maintenance work.
- Possesses mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to work outdoors for long periods of time, sometimes in inclement weather.
