Performs the daily maintenance and preparation of the golf course; assists the Golf Course Superintendent with the supervision of seasonal staff; and the implementation of agronomic and course conditioning tasks.
This position includes weekend work.
Essential Job Functions
Safely operates equipment such as mowers, blowers, irrigation equipment and other golf course maintenance related equipment. Lead maintenance crew by example.
Cleans machinery after each use.
Cuts grass, weeds and bushes, rakes leaves, trims trees and bushes and removes cuttings.
Waters turf grass when necessary.
Loads and unloads materials.
Collects litter and empties garbage cans.
Fills and distributes water coolers.
Cleans golf course restrooms.
Maintains all grounds.
Assists with the maintenance of golf course maintenance equipment.
Assists with the supervision of seasonal staff.
Assists in the planting, fertilizing and care of turf, plants, shrubs, trees and other facilities on golf course.
Assists in the preparation and application of proper fertilizers and nutrients.
Assists in operating and maintaining drainage, irrigation and watering systems.
Assists in maintaining course in proper playing condition.
Enforces comprehensive safety program for employees, members and guests on course in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
Other Duties
Performs related work as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (These are pre-employment KSA that apply only to Essential Job Functions.)
Knowledge of--
Training and/or Education:
High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience:
Two (2) years’ experience in golf course operations with at least 1 year being in a golf course maintenance department operating various equipment. One (1) year supervisory experience (does not have to be at a golf course).
Licenses or Certificates:
Valid driver’s license and a current Medical Examiner’s Certificate in accordance with Federal Regulations.
Special Requirements:
Must be 18 years of age.
Subject to background investigation.
Physical Demands:
Work requires strenuous physical effort to perform manual work involving walking over rough, uneven terrain, standing for long periods of time, repeated bending, climbing, crouching, stooping, stretching reaching or lifting objects up to 100 pounds. Works indoors and outdoors. Potential exposure to inclement weather.

- The game of golf.

- Ability to follow and give verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to supervise subordinates.

Training and/or Education:
