JOB SUMMARY
- The ideal candidate must have an absolute commitment to providing the highest quality of service to all guests. This individual will work as an integral part of the leadership team under the direction of the Assistant General Manager.
- This is a seasonal position perfect for a forward-thinking and dedicated individual possessing strong communication skills and keen attention to detail.
- Assures the efficient daily function of the Golf Shop & Outside Services operations to provide guests with an exceptional golf experience, inside the golf shop & on-course, for which Southside Golf Course is well known. The expectation is to lead by example and provide an enjoyable, positive, and memorable environment for customers and staff.
The ideal candidate:
- Is skilled in supervising, mentoring, and developing high achieving employees. Perpetual training and coaching are essential.
- Is organized, predictable, consistent and detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and prioritize competing or conflicting projects.
- Required computer skills of Word, Excel, CANVA, and POS systems (Tee-On considered an asset)
- Has strong organizational and time management skills; identifying the details necessary to consistently achieve high levels of quality, satisfaction, and outstanding guest experiences.
- Has a professional appearance and demeanor and expects the same from their team members.
- Hands-on and effective team building and leadership skills.
- Ability to communicate job requirements and expectations to a diverse staff, and positively motivate them to understand and execute those expectations.
- Must demonstrate appropriate analytical skills, attention to detail, organizational, and management skills.
- Flexibility to perform any job/shift in whatever capacity as requested by the AGM that may be necessary for smooth operations of the club.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to express ideas clearly and precisely in oral and written forms.
- The ability to make guests and members feel they are consistently taken care of, while enforcing club policies.
- An understanding of golf and the traditions of the game.
- Must be willing to work a variety of shifts: Days, Evenings and Weekends and Holidays March – October
- Retail/Merchandising experience required.
- Golf course experience and knowledge is considered an asset.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced and front-facing environment.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Reports to and works closely with the Assistant General Manager (AGM) to ensure clientele satisfaction is met and performs specific tasks as requested by the AGM.
- Work closely with AGM to develop techniques to drive Golf Shop revenue.
- Communicate with event clientele, guests, members, vendors, and staff; listen to concerns and suggestions; observe, assess, and evaluate all areas of responsibility; work closely with the AGM to implement appropriate and incremental improvements.
- Assist with Golf Shop Team product knowledge training and development, including sales targets and goals.
- Assist AGM with tournament & league organization and execution.
- Interacts positively, professionally, and politely with all team members, vendors, and the community to promote a team effort.
- Must maintain a “lead by example” approach and act as a back up to staff members in a variety of areas and shifts.
- Assists the AGM in all operational and functional areas of the Golf Shop & Outside Services as needed and directed.
- Maintains positive vendor relationships and seeks new outlets for improved products and services.
- Ensures proper opening, closing, and security procedures of the Golf Shop and Outside Services
- Respectfully, effectively, and promptly addresses challenges & conflicts, makes decisions to resolve issues, and implements improvements in Golf Shop & Outside Services operations.
- Keeps the AGM informed of all significant or potentially significant operating matters, problem areas, achievements, or other matters of importance.
- Undertakes special projects from the Assistant General Manager as assigned.
- Manage inventory levels.
- Assist in purchasing merchandise.
- Coordinate and perform specialized projects as requested.
- May assist in the operating of special events as needed.
- Execute daily golf shop operations including: booking tee-times & reservations, collecting guest fees & golf cart rental fees, facilitating check-ins, answering telephone calls, etc.
- Supervise as to what merchandise should be displayed and when.
- Conduct sales promotions through displays and shop decorations, and coordination of periodic on-site sales.
- Keep Golf Shop & Back Shop neat and clean.
