The Laborer is responsible for the maintenance of the greens, machinery, and irrigation systems. The Laborer is also responsible for performing minor building repairs and general cleaning. This is a permanent position requiring up to 29 hours a week.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Maintains the golf course in playable condition by irrigating, cutting grass, and trimming trees and bushes.
· Plants grass, trees, shrubs, and flowers.
· Water, fertilize, and cultivate grass, trees, shrubs, and flowers.
· Ensures that the machinery and golf carts are running effectively and efficiently.
· Makes minor repairs as needed.
· Follows directions of the Golf Course Superintendent.
· Keeps grounds free from debris and litter.
· Picks up debris and litter and disposes of such properly.
· Makes suggestions and reports to the Golf Course Superintendent.
· Other duties may be assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
· Knowledge of grass, trees, and plants.
· Ability to maintain grass, trees, plants, and shrubs.
· Ability to seed, plant, and fertilize grass.
· Knowledge of hand tools and machinery used in maintaining grounds.
· Skill in utilizing machinery and equipment to maintain lawns and landscapes.
· Knowledge of golf course machinery and carts.
· Ability to make general repairs of equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Current valid Arizona Driver's License required.
· Must be able to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
· High School Diploma/GED required.
· 2-year work experience in a related field, lawn/landscaping grounds keeping, or agriculture preferred.
· Previous golf course maintenance preferred.
