Position Overview
Arrowhead Golf Club is seeking a hands-on, dedicated Golf Course Grounds Foreman to join our team in Akron, NY. In this role, you will serve as a vital link between management and our field crew, working directly under the Assistant Grounds Superintendent. You will bridge the gap by leading daily field teams, operating heavy machinery, and ensuring our course remains in excellent condition for our guests.

What You Will Do
As the Grounds Foreman, your daily responsibilities will combine field leadership with technical course maintenance:
- Assist in Leading the Crew: Assist in directing the daily work of groundskeepers, assign specific tasks, and monitor overall field performance to ensure high-quality results.
- Course Maintenance: Personally assist in the oversight of vital presentation tasks, including mowing greens, tees, fairways, and roughs; raking bunkers; and changing cup placements.
- Chemical Application: Safely and accurately apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides under the direct guidance of course management.
- Irrigation Oversight: Assist in the Active inspection, troubleshooting, and repair course sprinkler heads, pipes, and complex control valves.
- Equipment Care: Safely operate and maintain specialized turf equipment while strictly adhering to all safety protocols.
We are looking for a reliable team lead with a strong work ethic and a passion for turfgrass management:
- Experience: 2–3+ years of dedicated golf course maintenance experience, including at least 1 season of demonstrated experience leading or supervising a crew.
- Turf Knowledge: A solid, practical understanding of turfgrass care, professional course setup, and safe chemical handling practices.
- License & Certification: A valid driver's license is required. Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certification through the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC). Golf course maintenance requires certification in Category 3A (Ornamentals, Shade Trees, and Turf) or Category 3B (Turf only) - or the ability to become certified within nine months of employment.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to work comfortably outdoors in extreme, changing weather conditions, lift up to 50 lbs, and stand or walk for long periods during a shift.
