Purpose
Golf Course Groundskeepers play a vital role in ensuring that the golf course is maintained to the highest standards of playability, safety, and visual appeal. Their work directly impacts the golfer experience and the overall aesthetics of the property. Responsibilities include daily upkeep of the course such as mowing, trimming, edging, and fertilizing turf; caring for trees, shrubs, and ornamental plants; maintaining ponds and water features; and performing repairs to irrigation systems and course infrastructure. Groundskeepers also support seasonal projects and contribute to a safe, well-organized, and welcoming environment for members, guests, and staff alike.
Duties
· Grounds Upkeep: Removing litter and debris from the course and maintaining bunkers, cart paths, benches, signs, and other outdoor areas around the golf course.
· Lawn Maintenance: Mowing, edging, and fertilizing lawns, as well as trimming hedges and trees. Repairing divots and ball marks. Assisting with overseeding and aerification.
· Pond Maintenance: Removing litter and debris from bodies of water. Treat playable pond banks and slopes for weeds.
· Plant Care: Planting flowers, trees, and shrubs, and maintaining their health through watering, pruning, fertilizing, and pest control.
·Equipment Operation: Using hand and power tools for various tasks, including mowers, trimmers, and other landscaping equipment. Greens, rough, trim, and fairway mower experience a plus.
·Minor Repairs: Performing minor repairs on fences, benches, and other outdoor structures.
·Dog Park: Maintain, trim, mow, and week control.
· Communication: Communicating with supervisors and other team members about work progress and any issues that arise.
· Safety: Ensuring the safety of the grounds for all users, including identifying and addressing potential hazards.
Skills/Qualifications
· Physical Stamina: Ability to work outside in all weather conditions, stand for long periods of time, and able to lift 50 pounds.
·Manual Dexterity: Ability to use hand and power tools effectively.
·Attention to Detail: Ensure that all areas of the grounds are well-maintained and presentable.
·Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve issues related to golf course grounds maintenance.
· Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members.
· Landscaping Experience: Previous experience in landscaping or groundskeeping is preferred. Familiarity with irrigation systems, fertilizers and pesticides is a plus.
·Equipment Operation: Familiarity with operating various landscaping tools and equipment. Working knowledge of commercial lawn equipment, a plus.
·Driver's License: A valid driver's license is required.
·Work Environment: Ability to work alone and as part of a larger team. Self-starter.
