Position overview :
At Pineapple Valley Golf Club, recognized as one of Asia’s premier golf destinations, the Golf Course Superintendent plays a critical leadership role in delivering exceptional course conditions that reflect the club’s premium standards and international reputation.
The Superintendent is entrusted with the full agronomic management, operational leadership, and long-term development of the golf course and its surrounding landscapes. This role requires a strategic mindset, strong leadership presence, and a passion for excellence to ensure that the course consistently exceeds members and guests expectations.
Working closely with the General Manager and senior leadership team, the Superintendent contributes to the club’s overall vision, ensuring that agronomy, sustainability, and playability are perfectly balanced.
Key responsibilities:
1. Agronomic excellence & Course conditioning
• Lead and execute a world-class agronomic program for all playing surfaces including greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers and practice facilities.
• Maintain championship-level playing conditions year-round, aligned with premium international standards.
• Oversee pin placements, tee setups, and course presentation for daily play and major events.
• Implement proactive turf health programs, including disease prevention, nutrition, and stress management.
• Continuously evaluate and improve course conditions with a strong attention to detail and aesthetics.
• Ensure exceptional presentation standards across all playing surfaces and landscaped areas.
• Maintain top-quality championship playing conditions year-round with a strong focus on consistency, aesthetics, and member satisfaction.
2. Irrigation & water Management
• Develop and manage efficient irrigation strategies adapted to local climate conditions and water availability.
• Ensure optimal performance and maintenance of irrigation systems.
• Lead water conservation initiatives and sustainable resource management practices.
3. Leadership & Team Management
• Recruit, train, and lead a high-performing maintenance team.
• Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Provide clear direction, daily planning, and performance feedback to all team members.
• Ensure strong on-course presence and leadership visibility.
• Promote a professional, service-oriented, and client-focused culture within the department.
• Ensure the team demonstrates professional behavior and communication when interacting with members and guests.
4. Equipment & infrastructure
• Oversee maintenance, repair, and replacement planning of all equipment assets.
• Manage relationships with suppliers and contractors for machinery, materials, and services.
• Supervise all construction, renovation, and improvement projects on the golf course.
5. Budgeting & cost Control
• Prepare and manage annual operating and capital expenditure budgets.
• Ensure strict cost control while maintaining premium quality standards.
• Monitor inventory, procurement, and resource allocation efficiently.
6. Sustainability & compliance
• Ensure compliance with all environmental, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Promote sustainable practices in chemical usage, water management, and turf maintenance.
• Maintain accurate records of applications, weather data, and maintenance activities.
7. Strategic planning & communication
• Participate actively in long-term planning and capital improvement strategies.
• Communicate regularly with the General Manager and leadership team on course conditions, challenges, and opportunities.
• Engage with members and guests when appropriate to enhance the overall club experience.
Skills & competencies:
• Advanced expertise in turf grass management and agronomy
• Strong knowledge of irrigation systems and water management
• Proven ability in team leadership and staff development
• High-level problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management
• Attention to detail with a passion for premium course presentation
• Strong client-focused mindset with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to represent the club professionally with members, guests, and stakeholders.
• Fluency in English and Thai required
Experience & qualifications:
• Degree or diploma in Turf grass Management, Agronomy, or related field
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in golf course maintenance, ideally in premium or championship-level facilities
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent
• International experience is a strong advantage
