The Burns Golf Club Belconnen is seeking a qualified and motivated Golf Course Mechanic to join our course maintenance department. This is a critical role responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of the Club’s fleet of specialized turf machinery and equipment.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, a proactive approach to mechanical problem-solving, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of golf course presentation.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintenance & Repair: Manage the end-to-end maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all golf course plant and equipment.

  • Operational Precision: Operate and adjust specialized turf machinery to ensure optimal performance and quality of cut.

  • Procurement: Identify required components and manage the ordering of parts and consumables to ensure minimal equipment downtime.

  • Compliance & Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date service records for all machinery and ensure all workshop activities comply with OH&S regulations and safety standards.

  • Course Operations: Assist the maintenance team in daily course preparation and other aspects of golf course maintenance as required.
Selection Criteria

Ideally, applicants will possess the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Qualifications: Formal mechanical trade qualifications.

  • Technical Expertise: Proven ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems in a turf or agricultural environment.

  • Organizational Skills: Excellent communication and organizational skills with a disciplined approach to record-keeping.

  • Problem Solving: A demonstrated ability to solve complex mechanical issues and an eagerness to learn and implement new technical processes.

  • Professionalism: A "can-do" attitude, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team-oriented environment.

  • Licensing: A current, valid driver’s license.
Reporting & Environment

The Golf Course Mechanic reports directly to the Course Superintendent. You will play a vital role in a dedicated team, ensuring that the day-to-day presentation of the course is executed to a premium standard through the delivery of reliable, high-performance equipment.
