About Hanover Country Club
Established in 1923, Hanover Country Club is a historic 18-hole championship facility known for its pristine course conditions, rich traditions, and high standard of course management. Our maintenance team is dedicated to preserving the quality and playability of our fairways, greens, and surroundings. We are looking for a skilled, self-motivated Golf Course Mechanic / Equipment Manager to oversee and care for our maintenance fleet.
Position Overview
As the Golf Course Mechanic, you will be responsible for the setup, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of all turf management equipment, golf carts, and small utility vehicles. You will play a vital role in keeping our operational equipment running safely, efficiently, and at peak performance so our turf management crew can deliver exceptional course conditions daily.
Key Responsibilities
Preventative Maintenance & Repair: Perform routine servicing, troubleshooting, and repairs on gas, diesel, and electric machinery (reel mowers, rotary mowers, tractors, utility carts, sprayers, and two-stroke equipment).
Cutting Unit Management: Height-of-cut adjustments, reel grinding, bedknife facing, and setting reel-to-bedknife clearance to ensure exact, clean cuts across all turf areas.
Shop Operations: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop area. Keep detailed service records for all machinery and manage inventory of replacement parts, oil, filters, and shop supplies.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure all equipment operates within manufacturer safety standards. Instruct operators on proper machine operation, daily pre-check routines, and safety procedures.
Emergencies & Field Service: Provide prompt field repairs or support during daily course operations and major tournaments.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of experience in small engine, diesel, hydraulic, and turf equipment maintenance (golf course or commercial landscape background strongly preferred).
Technical Proficiency: Strong diagnostic and mechanical skills involving 12V electrical systems, hydraulics, gas/diesel engines, and reel grinding techniques.
Physical Capability: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, reach, and work in varied outdoor weather conditions as needed.
Licensing: Valid Driver’s License required.
Attributes: Strong attention to detail, reliability, effective communication skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
