Eagles Nest Golf Club is excited to welcome its next Turfgrass professional to join the Team in the position Field Assistant (title comparable to Second Assistant Superintendent), effective March 1, 2024. Our turf crew is a strong squad of long-tenured, hardworking turf enthusiasts who share a passion for the game of golf.
Eagles Nest Golf Club (“ENGC”) is one of Canada’s top public golf facilities located just north of Toronto in Maple, Ontario. Designed by the renowned course architect Doug Carrick, our links style course presents breathtaking views, steep elevation changes, fescue-covered hills, deep white sand pot bunkers (redesigned in 2022), and velvet bentgrass greens. Our team is immensely proud of our golf course conditions, consistently rated as one of the top courses in Canada by ScoreGolf. As we look ahead to a successful and memorable 20th anniversary season in 2024, we are seeking someone who wants to learn and grow with our team in the Turfgrass industry.
Your Fit Within Our Team:
Let’s visualize – Your early morning alarm clock rings well before sunrise. Daily practice makes you a superb silent-moving ninja as you exit your home while the rest of the house still sleeps. Filling an extra-large travel mug to the brim with strong coffee, you drive to meet your colleagues and team members at the shop – they, too, arrive with their home or drive-through morning brew in hand. Perhaps it's one of those mornings when one cup isn’t enough, so you pop into the lunchroom to refill your java before the morning team meeting. In the dawn of a summer morning, you aid team members loads carts and gathers equipment to successfully complete the duties of the day. Soon, a roar of the fleet carts and machine engines fills the air. Driving over the dunes of the 17th fairway from our turf facility, our day begins as the sun rises – a united crew hard at work to deliver exceptional course conditions, all for a property and team we are proud to be affiliated with. On Monday afternoons, staff golf privileges are enjoyed as we unwind as a team, playing the game we love.
Reporting to the Manager of Turf Operations, with direct line to the Director of Turf Operations; you will be a valued contributor to the turf management team and engaged in the development of new ideas and operational planning of the seasonal maintenance activities. You will lead by example, taking pride in each task and encouragingly communicating our team culture and protocol of ENGC to our staff members, working with each staff member individually to get the best from them. You will motivate the staff through strong leadership, following ENGC Health and Safety Policies, and making Eagles Nest shine. A work-life balance is important to our leadership team, yet you also share in the understanding of the demands of working in the Ontario golf industry and are able to work on weekends and holidays when scheduled/required.
Key Role Responsibilities:
ENGC offers an attractive compensation package ranging from $50,000-$60,000, commensurate with experience. Total compensation (components in addition to base salary) include;

Key Role Responsibilities:
- Training, supervising, and evaluation of department staff.
- Application of fertilizer and pesticide products.
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and scheduling of the irrigation system.
- IPM scouting, tracking and data reporting.
- Self-motivated with a sense of urgency to complete tasks with pride in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to recognize if supervision is required, or if a “rolling up sleeves” hands on approach is best, always leading by example.
- Member of the ENGC Joint Health and Safety Committee.
- Winter work includes snow removal, tree work, refurbishing on course accessories, etc.
- Degree or Diploma in Turfgrass Management or similar certificate program (if not yet complete, actively working to obtain)
- Possess (or willing/able of attain) an Ontario Landscape Exterminators License.
- Ability to learn and implement ENGC’s Standard Operating Procedures and Safety Protocol.
- Punctual and reliable.
- Love and the game of golf (although playing golf isn’t a prerequisite, an understanding of the rules and etiquette of the sport will add to your contributions on the team).
ENGC offers an attractive compensation package ranging from $50,000-$60,000, commensurate with experience. Total compensation (components in addition to base salary) include;
