JOB SUMMARY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This position performs intermediate clerical work involving the collection of fees and general maintenance and operation of golf shop; does related work as required. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Golf Course Assistant General Manager.
Essential Functions
  • Assists golfers, collects, and accounts for green and cart fees and charges, and prepares and maintains records and files.
  • Records each player on sign-up sheets, totals, and verifies fees collected.
  • Receives receipts and accounts for fees received.
  • Prepares scoring sheets, creates signs, prepares computer records, and assists with handicapping.
  • Performs monthly inventory control audits.
  • Receives merchandise and enters into inventory control system.
  • Prepares and cleans golf carts, picks up range balls, and checks course periodically.
  • Assists with developing working schedules and arranging tournaments.
  • Checks shop’s e-mail and confirms times made online.
  • Sells balls, tees, gloves, and other merchandise.
  • Cleans pro-shop, side rooms, and rest rooms.
  • Performs general custodial work when assigned.
  • Opens and closes shop.
  • Performs related tasks as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Education and Experience: A high school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in retail or customer service work. Pro shop experience is preferred.
Special Qualifications: A driver’s license valid in the State of Florida.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • General knowledge of the operation of a golf shop.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to perform record keeping and mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to get along well with others.
  • Ability to work unusual hours during the golfing season.
Physical Demands The work is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects, and some medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:
  • Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward.
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Repetitive Motion: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Standing: Particularly for sustained periods.
  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. Occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities and back muscles.
  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Vocal Communication: Required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
  • Hearing: Required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
  • Visual Acuity: Required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND OTHER INFORMATION
Work Environment The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions and extreme heat.
