Position Summary

The Golf Shop Attendant serves as the face of the club by delivering exceptional customer service and hospitality to members and guests. This position combines retail sales, golf operations, guest services, food-and-beverage support, and administrative responsibilities to ensure an outstanding club experience.

Core Responsibilities Primary Functions
  • Greet and welcome all members and guests upon arrival, creating a warm, professional, and hospitable environment.
  • Execute the daily golfer check-in process, verifying tee times, collecting green fees, cart fees, and rental charges.
  • Manage the tee sheet by booking, confirming, modifying, and canceling reservations through phone, online, and in-person requests.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls professionally, provide information, direct calls, and take accurate messages.
  • Actively engage guests on the sales floor to promote and sell golf merchandise, apparel, equipment, and accessories.
  • Process all transactions accurately using the Point of Sale (POS) system, including cash, credit cards, member charges, and gift certificates.
  • Assist with food and beverage operations, including preparing beverages, serving alcohol responsibly, and complying with all state and club regulations regarding alcoholic beverage sales.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of membership programs, club amenities, merchandise offerings, tournaments, and special promotions.
  • Assist members and guests with special orders for golf equipment, apparel, and accessories.
  • Manage the golf club rental program, ensuring equipment is clean, organized, and properly maintained.
  • Communicate course conditions, pace-of-play expectations, and local rules to golfers before play.
  • Address member and guest concerns promptly and professionally, escalating issues to management when necessary.
  • Maintain attractive merchandise displays and ensure products are organized, stocked, and properly presented.
Secondary Functions
  • Receive, unpack, price, and ticket incoming inventory shipments.
  • Participate in physical inventories and cycle counts to maintain accurate stock levels.
  • Support golf tournaments and club events through registration, scoring, prize distribution, and event logistics.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the golf shop, storage areas, fitting rooms, and service counters.
  • Coordinate with outside services staff regarding player arrivals, cart staging, and pace of play.
  • Promote club-sponsored lessons, clinics, memberships, and special programs.
  • Assist members with handicap posting procedures and maintain the club handicap system.
  • Complete opening and closing procedures, including cash reconciliation, end-of-day reporting, and securing the facility.
Qualifications
  • Strong customer service and hospitality skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to operate POS systems.
  • Cash-handling experience preferred.
  • Retail sales experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of golf operations and etiquette is beneficial but not required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and special events.
  • Must meet all state requirements for responsible alcohol service.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
  • Capability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements associated with stocking, merchandising, and customer service duties.

Pay: From $10.00 per hour

Education:
  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:
  • GOLF : 1 year (Preferred)
