POSITION: Two (2) USGA P.J. Boatwright Internships - Dallas (3 or 4-months)
AVAILABLE: Summer 2024
DESCRIPTION: The position is an internship that will provide exposure to all aspects of golf administration. Interns will travel extensively throughout the state during the internship assisting in conducting competitions and qualifying events.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist TGA championship staff in coordinating championships. Interns will have hands-on exposure and opportunities to work in all aspects of tournament operations including, but not limited to: general tournament set-up and preparation, course marking, starting and scoring (including data entry associated with real time scoring), equipment inventory and maintenance, photography, assisting in the post-round news/press releases, updating website, and supporting championship staff in advanced course site visits.
TRAINING: All interns will be provided a mentor at the beginning of their internship. Mentors will help with training, managing a schedule, working with other departments and assist with any questions along the way. All mentors will be full-time TGA staff, most of which previously served as a P.J. Boatwright Intern.
QUALIFICATIONS
* College degree (completed or in process)
* Golf background or strong interest in golf
* Willingness to work in fast pace and team-oriented structure
* Willingness to travel within the state and able to work outside in extreme weather and temperatures
* Excellent communications skills including experience in photography and social media
* A person with a strong work ethic that is self-motivated
* Strong computer skills
* Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
BENEFITS
* $2,250 per month (hourly employee), based on 40-hour work week
* TGA Staff apparel and uniforms
* Travel expenses paid for by Texas Golf Association
