Private, confidential Golf Course is currently accepting applications for our Assistant Superintendent position.
This position is very unique because it involves two very different sides of the business, but it has been something we have done here before, and has worked very well. The job itself has two areas of responsibility. The Assistant Superintendent part includes all facets of the daily operation of the golf course including but not limited to: Daily involvement with scheduling and following up on tasks, moisture readings and hand watering, occasional spraying, fertilizer applications, scouting for disease/pest issues and help with the normal maintenance of the property.
The responsibility of the Equipment Manager is to oversee the maintenance of our fleet of golf course maintenance equipment, golf cart fleet, and some minor building repair and maintenance as needed. The candidate should have experience with golf course equipment, small engine repair, hydraulic system maintenance and operation, grinding and sharpening of cutting reels, blades and bed knives. The Mechanic part of this position is very part-time and will not require more the 45 hours/week of total labor between the Assistant and Mechanic position.
During the golf season, the only duties with the Mechanic part of the job would be to address any break downs as they occur and to check quality of cut once mowers come back in. The Winter is when the position is less of an Assistant and more of a mechanic to go through and do routine services, troubleshoot any remaining problems from the season and grind as needed. We are a small property and there is ample time to perform both roles.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Superintendent in overseeing and managing construction projects from start to finish
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents
- Supervise and coordinate subcontractors and construction crews on-site
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety regulations and company policies
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to ensure project goals are met
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and quality of work
- Assist in the preparation of progress reports and documentation
- Support the Superintendent in resolving any issues or conflicts that may arise during construction
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction management or related field
- Strong knowledge of construction estimating and bidding processes
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and construction documents
- Experience with project management software such as HeavyBid, Prolog, or similar tools
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety practices in the construction industry
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with project stakeholders
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines
