The 18-Hole golf course at Barren River Lake State Resort Park offers a beautiful but challenging 18-holes of golf that is sure to offer an exciting round of golf to beginners and expects alike. The golf course is surrounded by beautiful views of Barren River Lake State Resort Park and breathtaking overlooks of Barren River Lake.
We are looking for a Golf Course Assistant Superintendent that enjoys the outdoors and has knowledge and experience of the following: golf course maintenance and agronomic operations, budgeting and pesticide application programs, landscape maintenance and design, maintenance of golf equipment fleet including small engine repair, hydraulics, and mower reel adjustment, irrigation repair and operation, recruiting and hiring of golf course maintenance staff. This position works with the Park’s Golf Maintenance Department.
Job Duties will include:
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Two years experience working on a golf maintenance staff for a regulation golf course.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: An Associate's degree in plant sciences or a Certificate of Turfgrass Management from an accredited university can substitute for ONE of the required two years of working experience.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification. Must obtain Kentucky Pesticide Applicator License within six months of employment. The N-18 Pesticide Applicators License required by this position can be obtained by passing the test administered by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials. Working Conditions Work is typically performed outdoors. Probationary Period This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 9 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111. Job Duties will include:
- Assist Golf Course Superintendent in all phases and agronomic operations on the golf course.
- Assist in developing long term plans, budgeting plans, and chemical programs.
- Lead staff in projects and routine maintenance activities.
- Irrigation repair, instillation, and application to turf.
- Calibrate and operate the equipment necessary to apply chemicals and fertilizers.
