Golf Apparel Associate Product Developer
**Overview:**
The Associate Product Developer plays a pivotal role in the design, development, and production of golf apparel. This individual works closely with the product development team, designers, suppliers, and manufacturers to bring superior quality, innovative, fashionable and functional golf apparel to the market. They are responsible for ensuring that products meet strict quality standards, fit requirements, and market demands.
You will provide support from inception through fit approval of the product assortment. It is the Associate Product Developer's responsibility to ensure that developments go through the proper channels in a timely manner to meet all critical deadlines.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. Product Development:
- Collaborate with the product development team to conceptualize and develop new golf apparel designs.
- Source and evaluate materials, trims, and accessories suitable for golf apparel.
- Ensure that products meet technical specifications and performance requirements.
2. Research & Analysis:
- Stay updated with industry trends, golf fashion, and emerging technologies related to golf apparel.
- Conduct market research to identify consumer preferences, gaps in the market, and potential areas for innovation.
3. Sample Development & Evaluation:
- Oversee the creation of prototypes and samples, ensuring they meet design specifications and quality standards.
- Collaborate with designers, pattern makers, and sample sewers to refine and finalize product samples.
4. Fit & Quality Assurance:
- Work closely with fit models and technical teams to ensure that garments fit properly and comfortably.
- Conduct quality inspections and assessments to ensure products meet established standards and specifications.
5. Supplier & Manufacturer Collaboration:
- Assist in building and maintaining relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and other industry partners.
- Communicate effectively with overseas factories to ensure timely production and delivery of products.
6. Costing & Budgeting:
- Assist in the development of product costing, ensuring products are priced competitively while maintaining desired margins.
- Monitor and manage product development budgets, ensuring projects stay within allocated financial limits.
7. Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, marketing, sales, and logistics.
- Provide regular updates and reports on product development progress, challenges, and milestones.
**Qualifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Merchandising, Textile Engineering, or a related field.
- 2+ years prior experience in product development within the apparel industry and preferably in golf apparel.
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience in CAD software and other design tools along with experience with PLM.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for innovation in apparel.
