The Wembley Golf Course
Wembley Golf Course is a public golf facility owned and operated by the Town of Cambridge located 10kms from the CBD and 2 kms from City Beach in Perth, WA. The facility encompasses 36 holes, an 80 Bay two storey (automated) day/night driving range including Trackman Range touchscreens on each bay, 18 hole mini golf course, shortgame, and coaching areas, Wembley Golf Custom Studio, restaurant and bar and one of Australia’s biggest pro shops. With over 195,000 rounds per year and over 800,000 visitors to the facility per year, Wembley Golf Course is arguably the busiest golf facility in Australia.
The Role
The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the daily operations and strategic direction of the Wembley Golf Course. This position requires strong leadership, superior personnel and resource management skills, and a passion for golf.
The Town is seeking an individual with exceptional leadership skills, character, and values that reflect the Wembley Golf Course’s unique place in the golfing community, who can drive sustainable commercial and brand growth. The General Manager must navigate complex stakeholder relationships, drive commercial innovation and maintain Wembley Golf Course’s position as Australia’s premier golfing experience. We are seeking a visionary leader who understands that Wembley Golf Course’s success comes from its community foundations, and that Wembley Golf Course’s future is grounded in innovation and driving new commercial opportunities.

Eligibility
This position is offered on a five-year performance-based contract, and you will be rewarded with an attractive remuneration package depending upon qualifications and experience. This package includes a base salary range $156,000-$170,000, statutory superannuation of 12% plus up to 5% optional additional super, negotiable with the successful candidate.

Selection Criteria

A proven track record as a leader within a complex commercial organisation or statutory authority, comparable to Wembley Golf Course, and the ability to drive strategic execution and operational excellence.
Strong financial acumen, with demonstrated experience managing budgets and resources, service and business planning, reporting, and profitability and expertise with sophisticated operational management capabilities.
Ability to work within the bounds of a local government authority and an understanding of this operational environment OR Local or other government experience or board-level governance experience.
Hands-on leadership style with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
A strategic mindset and the ability to work collaboratively with Executive and Council.
The ability to think critically, navigate ambiguity, and analyse macroeconomic/market trends OR Demonstrated experience anticipating industry shifts as well as the ability to act with agility in a fast-paced environment and effectively engage both internal and external stakeholders.
Proven exceptional team leadership and communication skills as well as the ability to negotiate highly complex commercial contracts.
Exceptional commercial success in revenue optimisation.
High-level accountability and transparency through reporting.
Qualifications in business or club management (preferred) and relevant post graduate management qualifications would be highly regarded
