- Ensure the cleanliness, organization, and sanitization of the kitchen area, back of house area, storage areas, along with the carts and tables through constant monitoring and vigorous cleaning schedules.
- Clean and sanitize all China, glass, silver, cutlery, and other dishware using the dishwashing machine, load and unload dishware flatware from dishwashing machine and store properly.
- Clean and sanitize all pots, pans, and kitchen utensils using the correct cleaning and rinsing solutions.
- Help and create overall compliance with state and local Food Safety and Food Establishment health regulations.
- Safely set-up, clean, utilize machinery to clean, polish, sort, and transport dishware; place damaged or excessively worn pieces in a designated area for repair or to be discarded.
- Clean and sanitize all ovens, mixers, kettles, and other kitchen equipment as well as kitchen drains, sinks, floors, and walls; dust, clean, sweep, mop all food production areas and hallways.
- Safely utilize and store all cleaning compounds, chemicals, and materials including soaking solution utilizing the correct protective clothing and Personal Protective Equipment.
- Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor to maintain a smoothly run kitchen.
- Travel between Shangri-La properties may be requested.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Related experience is preferred but not required.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must have an extensive knowledge of Food and Beverage etiquette, guest relations, and service standards.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills to assess client needs, negotiate pricing, and provide overall guest satisfaction.
- Must be able to effectively deal with internal and external guests with a high level of patience, tact, and diplomacy.
- Must have a self-starting personality with an even disposition.
- Must be able to communicate well with guests.
- Must be willing to pitch-in and help coworkers with their job duties.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of Food and Beverage products, proper preparation, and presentation.
- Must have the ability to work in a team environment.
- Must be able to maintain professional status through interface with customers, management, and co-workers.
- Must be able to work flexible schedules, including but not limited to extended hours, irregular shifts, evenings, holidays, and/or weekends.
- Serve as a guest relations ambassador, delivering exceptional service every moment of the day.
- Exhibit professionalism, courtesy, and respect towards guests and associates under all circumstances.
- Strive to create memorable guest experiences, maintaining Shangri-La's high service standards.
