Job Descriptions – Golf Operations




Golf Operations oversees all aspects of a The Golf Rooms daily operations, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for members and guests. This includes managing tee time reservations, events, and the golf shop, while also supervising staff and maintaining high standards of service.  Golf Operations is part of The Golf Rooms Leadership team and will provide regular updates on club performance and future plans.




Key Responsibilities: 




Daily Operations: Manage tee time reservations, bay capacity, and overall golf operations to maximize revenue and member satisfaction.  

Events and Tournaments: Plan, schedule, and promote golf tournaments, leagues, and outings.  

Golf Management: Oversee golf shop operations, including retail, sales, merchandising, and stock control.  

Staff Management: Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate golf operations staff.  

Customer Service: Ensure exceptional service for members and guests, addressing their needs and resolving issues.  

Budget and Financial Management: Manage budgets and financial aspects of golf operations.  

Policy and Procedure Development: Assist in developing and maintaining golf shop and golf operational policies and procedures.  

Maintenance Liaison: Work with the maintenance team to ensure The Golf Rooms is in optimal condition.  




Skills and Qualifications: 




- Leadership and Management: Ability to lead and motivate a team.  

Customer Service: Strong interpersonal skills and a focus on guest satisfaction.  

Financial Acumen: Understanding of budgets and financial management.  

Organizational Skills: Ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate multiple tasks and events.  

Knowledge of Golf Operations: Understanding of golf course operations, rules, and regulations.  

Computer Skills: Proficiency in using software for tee time management, POS systems, and other relevant applications.  

Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with members, guests, and staff.  

Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve issues quickly and efficiently. 




- Golf coaching 




In conjunction with the PGA Professional, provide coaching to the Members as part of their membership

Actively participate in community, promoting and coaching juniors and female groups into the game of golf




- Communication / General




To act as the ‘hub’ for communication for members and visitors through appropriate communication channels including email, noticeboards and social media.

To provide weekly itinerary sheets detailing all activities on the golf course and in the Clubhouse. Specifically, these will need to include competition start time, society golf and catering activity, function details and any other usage.

To ensure the club diary is constantly updated to ensure staff and members are aware of what is going on and when. To keep the diary updated on a timely basis with key society and competition details so that all members and visitors have a clear picture of when the golf course is booked.

To answer the telephone quickly, professionally and efficiently and where possible deal with the query or redirect as necessary.

To deal with any member or visitor enquiry in person through the office.

To assist in the efficient management of the office and where necessary help in managing the Club premises to ensure maximum member and visitor satisfaction.  

To monitor fixtures and check annual diary.

To assist with distribution of notices for Club AGM / EGMs, subscriptions and any Club meetings.

To use all available social media platforms to promote club, social activities, off site competition performances, and any other news worthy items on regular basis.




 - Sales and Marketing




Be responsible, for promoting the Club, its members’ achievements, and general information on the Club’s social media platforms.

Maintain a database of golf day/ visitor records for future marketing and sales

Pro-actively promote and sell golf packages, ensuring all enquiries are dealt with in a professional and timely manner.

Assist in updating the Club website.

Assist in the preparation of the Club’s marketing materials.

Excellent IT skills including Word, Excel, and other Microsoft packages

Strong Social Media Knowledge

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong interpersonal skills.

Flexible with hours worked, including evenings and weekends.

Knowledge of Golf

 Desirable




Experience of private members’ clubs

Knowledge of membership database packages

Personal drive and enthusiasm to improve the performance of the Club.
