We are a large, gated community with an Executive 18-hole golf course. We are currently seeking a Director of Golf Course Maintenance. This position will report to the General Manager. Below are the Duties and Responsibilities:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Associate in science degree in Turf Grass Management or related field of study. Prior specialized training and experience in turf maintenance, disease, and pest control in southern United States. Minimum three (3) years prior experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent at a similar facility. Must have a commercial pesticide restricted-use State of Florida license and must be kept current through continuing education, as necessary.
PHYSICAL / EMOTIONAL DEMANDS
Daily strenuous labor is not generally required, however, must be able to operate all types of golf course machinery, equipment, and tools.
Salary to commensurate with experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervisory position responsible for the overall appearance, health, and general “playability” of the golf course, and responsible for operation and maintenance of golf course equipment and systems.
- Prioritizes and schedules golf course maintenance, assigns tasks, and directly supervises work of subordinate staff including chemical technicians and mechanics.
- Hires, supervises, evaluates performance, disciplines, and terminates the golf course staff and keeps the General Manager apprised of unusual or exceptional occurrences; ensures that staff holds valid licenses and/or certifications for specialty service, as applicable.
- Provides proper training, guidance and/or assures timely completion of tasks.
- Trains golf course staff in proper work and safety procedures and monitors their performance.
- Determines and controls the use of all golf course maintenance supplies and chemicals (i.e., fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, etc.).
- Supervises and ensures proper and safe chemical application to the golf course.
- Determines irrigation needs of golf course and maintains the irrigation system for efficient operation.
- Schedules maintenance of all golf course equipment and works with other departments to coordinate the availability of the mechanic to maintain their equipment.
- Inspects work done by hired contractors and coordinates in-house support, as necessary.
- Works with state and local authorities regarding water and chemical use.
- Monitors use of wells for golf course and meets state and local requirements.
- Recommends and/or requisitions chemicals, parts, equipment, and supplies needed for adequate and efficient golf course maintenance according to purchasing procedures.
- Prepares accurate in-house chargebacks when necessary to transfer costs from operating to reserves.
- Responds as necessary to resident requests and complaints and apprises management as appropriate.
- Works closely with the Golf Committee and Head Golf Pro to coordinate golf course maintenance requirements to facilitate regular course play and special events.
- Prepares and submits annual Golf Course Department budget requirements and follows established procedures for purchase, repair, and replacement of items for the golf course.
- Works with other supervisors and managers as required to facilitate efficient overall operations.
- Prepares reports as required by management and the Board of Directors.
- Obtains bids following approved bid procedures and prepares in-house estimates when requested.
- Maintains irrigation and lake discharge, pump stations, and monitors lake levels.
- Maintains all fountains in lakes.
- Abide by all current Seven Lakes Association stated policies and procedures.
- Other related duties as required or requested.
