About Cabot-Managed Properties Since 2022, Cabot has managed the strategy and operations of four exceptional golf courses across the United States, including Cascata and Serket in Las Vegas, Nevada, Grand Bear in Saucier, Mississippi, and Chariot Run in Laconia, Indiana. Position Overview The Director of Golf is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and day-to-day management of Cascata's golf course operations. This role ensures an exceptional golf experience for members and guests, oversees golf operations staff, manages the golf shop and player services, coordinates closely with agronomy/grounds leadership on course conditioning, and partners with the Cabot Managed Properties ELT on budgeting, standards, and long-term planning for the golf program. The Director of Golf models Cascata's culture and brand standards and helps ensure the Cabot brand is authentically represented in every guest and member interaction. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Direct all aspects of golf course operations, including the golf shop, bag/cart operations, player services, teaching and caddy programs, and course activities. Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise golf operations staff; conduct performance evaluations and administer corrective action as needed. Provide effective leadership to golf operations managers and supervisors, motivating and supporting them to achieve department and property goals. Liaise with Talent & Culture on employment activities, including recruitment and selection, performance evaluations, training, compensation, discipline, and termination. Ensure consistent, high standards of customer service across all golf operations, including training and performance management of staff. Manage golf shop merchandising, inventory, vendor relationships, and retail sales performance; ensure the golf shop is maintained to Cascata's cleanliness and appearance standards. Develop and manage the annual golf operations budget; monitor revenue, labor, and expenses against budget, and support delivery of key business performance indicators. Partner with the agronomy/grounds team and Course Superintendent on course improvements, repairs, and maintenance programs, balancing player access, seasonal peaks, and company goals. Oversee tee sheet management, reservation systems, and pace-of-play policies to optimize the guest and member experience. Plan and execute golf tournaments, member events, outings, and special golf programming. Oversee operational policies, procedures, rules, controls, and fee structures to safeguard assets, inventory, and resources, including cart safety and rules of golf course usage. Ensure golf operations comply with the company's environmental protection policies and practices. Plan professional development and training activities for golf operations staff. Oversee golf professionals as they build a comprehensive teaching program, including clinics, golf schools, and golfer development programs for all guest and member segments. Oversee all golf programs and activities, including tournaments, junior golf programs, golf clinics, special groups, instruction, and retail promotions. Conduct regular team meetings to maintain two-way communication across golf operations staff. Develop and maintain relationships with members, guests, PGA/LPGA professionals, vendors, and the broader golf community; maintain membership with the PGA and/or other professional associations and stay current on industry developments. Coordinate with the Director of Food & Beverage on course food and beverage needs, outside events, and catering for golf functions. Serve as a key point of contact for member and guest feedback related to golf operations; resolve escalated issues professionally. Prepare and submit the Cascata Weekly Manager Update to the Cabot-Managed Properties ELT in accordance with company policy. Uphold and enforce all Cascata policies and procedures, brand standards, and service expectations. Perform other duties as assigned by the Cabot-Managed Properties ELT. Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervises golf shop staff, outside services/cart operations staff, and other golf operations personnel. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Cascata's policies and applicable employment laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning work, appraising performance, and addressing performance concerns. Requirements Bachelor's degree in golf management, business, hospitality, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience considered. Minimum of 5 years of progressive golf operations and retail leadership/management experience, preferably in a private club, resort, or high-end daily-fee golf environment. PGA of America Class A membership (or LPGA equivalent), or active pursuit of certification, preferred. Strong external knowledge of the golf industry, the game of golf, and golf etiquette. Proven experience managing budgets, staff, and vendor relationships, and taking responsibility for financial and operational results in a golf or hospitality setting. Proficiency with relevant computer software, including Microsoft Office, point-of-sale systems, golf/retail inventory management systems (e.g., Yellow Dog), and tee time reservation systems. In addition, the ideal candidate will be or have: Strong leadership, organizational, and staff development skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with members, guests, staff, and executive leadership. Positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills. Sound financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and expense management. Working knowledge of the Rules of Golf, tournament operations, and golf course agronomy fundamentals. Ability to remain composed and solutions-oriented under pressure and during peak business periods. Flexibility to work varying schedules, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays, as business needs require. Adjusts schedules and events based on weather forecasts; may conduct staff training sessions and workshops outdoors. Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds (e.g., golf bags, merchandise, equipment). Ability to operate a golf cart and other golf operations equipment safely. Work is performed both indoors (golf shop, offices) and outdoors (golf course, practice areas) in all seasons. Work Environment This position’s daily routine will take place indoors. However, the position may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions in performing the duties of the job.
