Golf has been played on this land since 1901. For more than a century, The International has defined the golf experience in greater Boston and its next chapter is already underway.
In 2025, The International opened The Pines, an 18-hole course designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. It is one of the most anticipated new course openings in the country, a property steeped in 125 years of golf history now paired with a modern masterwork from two of the game's most revered designers. We are looking for a Director of Golf to step into this moment, carry the legacy forward, and build something exceptional for the next generation.
THE OPPORTUNITY
This is not a maintenance role. This is a leadership opportunity at a transformational moment.
The International was acquired by Escalante Golf in 2021. Since then, it has been reimagined as the premier golf destination in New England, a property where the game is taken seriously and the member experience comes first. The addition of The Pines has elevated that vision dramatically, and the Director of Golf will be at the center of bringing it to life.
The right candidate will:
• Championing the culture and traditions of a club celebrating 125 years of golf heritage
• Build and lead a world-class golf operation that matches the caliber of the Coore & Crenshaw design
• Develop and execute programming, events, and member experiences that distinguish The International in the New England market
• Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing golf staff aligned with Escalante's commitment to excellence
• Partner with club leadership to drive membership growth and retention
• Serve as an ambassador for the game connecting members to golf's past while shaping what the club becomes
ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL
Located in Bolton, Massachusetts, just 35 miles west of Boston, The International is a private golf club set across a spectacular landscape. The property now features two championship courses:
• The Pines opened in 2025, Designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. A course built for golfers, with an emphasis on strategy, variety, and playing conditions that reward skill and imagination.
• The Oaks, a classic New England layout by Tom Fazio and refined by Tripp Davis that hosted LIV Boston in 2022.
Together, these two courses create a property with few peers in the Northeast. The International is a place where serious golfers come to play and where the next Director of Golf will have the rare opportunity to shape what that means for years to come.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Direct and oversee all aspects of golf operations, including daily play, tournaments, member events, outings, instructional programming, and golf services.
• Create an exceptional member and guest experience through personalized service and attention to detail.
• Recruit, develop, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of golf professionals and support staff.
• Lead the planning and execution of member tournaments, championships, signature events, and corporate outings.
• Manage all golf technology platforms, including Golf Genius and POS systems.
• Oversee golf shop merchandising, inventory control, purchasing, and retail performance.
• Develop, manage, and achieve annual operating budgets and financial objectives.
• Foster strong relationships with members while maintaining a visible presence throughout the club.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to drive membership engagement, retention, and growth initiatives.
• Ensure all golf operations consistently reflect PGA and private club best practices.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
• PGA Member in good standing
• Minimum 5+ years of progressive golf operations leadership, preferably at a private club or resort
• Proven ability to lead, develop, and inspire a team
• Strong member relations skills, approachable, present, and service-minded
• A passion for the game and genuine enthusiasm for golf's history and traditions
• Experience with agronomy partnerships, merchandising, instruction programming, and tournament operations
• High integrity, professional presentation, and the organizational discipline to manage a complex operation
