Showcase: Amateur golf is a foundational element of the Association’s rich history. Championship events provide a competitive experience for all Golfers and leverage high-profile national golf championships for the betterment of golf in SoCal.
Community: All that we do as an association is reflected in our communities. Members, member clubs, SCGA Junior and the Foundation are all communities and provide experiences in their unique and individual way.
Govern: Manage the core services of the SCGA including handicapping and the Rules of Golf. Thought and executional leadership in policy & advocacy work supporting golf in the region and operational excellence across all business functions.
Advance: Support the health of the game being mindful of environmental, social and societal changes. Continue growth of the next generation of golfers through promotion and support of the SCGA Junior Golf Foundation and champion a purposeful DEI effort.
Job Summary: The Championships & Golf Operations team is dedicated to administering 300+ event days per year, which includes playing opportunities for SCGA members such as Championships and Qualifiers, the One-Day Series, Team Play, and Member Outings. The team also provides support and education on the Rules of Golf to SCGA members and member clubs. Under the direction and supervision of the Manager, the Coordinator is heavily involved in the conduct of these events in the field and the coordination of the functions that support them. This position is a full-time opportunity, requiring a flexible schedule, with an intended starting hourly rate of $24.00, in addition to a comprehensive company benefits package.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conducting Events in the Field
  • Serves as the primary contact and liaison on-site of numerous SCGA/CGA/USGA qualifiers in Southern California and One-Day Series tournaments. Primary duties include pre-tournament site visits, coordination with facility personnel, course setup, coordinating the efforts of numerous volunteers, etc,.
General Administration
  • Provides internal support on all aspects of event administration.
  • Coordination of the Team Play program and its participants.
  • Preparing and maintaining Golf Genius software.
  • Answers Rules of Golf related questions and provides interpretations both written and verbally to SCGA members and other related organizations.
  • Assists in the production of educational initiatives.
  • Assists on projects and initiatives of the department, including its role in adaptive golf.
Interdepartmental Collaboration
  • Supports other elements of the organization, especially tied to SCGA Core Services.
  • Performs other duties as relevant and assigned.
Minimum Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university or an equivalent combination of education and applicable experience.
  • Preferred experience working within the golf industry or a golf association.
  • Well organized and able to multi-task under pressure while meeting time deadlines.
  • Able to prioritize work and identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Capable of developing and maintaining positive, professional relationships with SCGA stakeholders, volunteers, members, facility operators, and program participants.
  • Comfortable integrating diverse viewpoints and opinions amongst staff, volunteers, and industry stakeholders.
  • Communicates clearly and persuasively; comfortable presenting to small groups.
  • Always looking for ways to improve and promote quality and increase productivity.
  • Assists in the development and furtherance of strategies to help achieve the association’s objectives.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Requires a flexible schedule; willing and able to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Able to move, lift, and carry heavy items up to 50 lbs with minimal assistance (e.g., pop-up tents, large supply boxes, etc,.)
  • Capable of standing and walking for long periods of time and working outdoors subject to various weather conditions.
  • The position requires a significant amount of driving and travel, mainly throughout Southern California, and requires the employee to have the ability to operate a car safely.
